New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea stated outright this week that people are not permitted to gather for protests in public due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The city leaders pointed to the need to maintain social distancing in order to prevent greater spread of COVID-19, stating that this takes precedence over people's rights to exercise their First Amendment rights of free speech and assembly.
"You're talking about some of the values we hold in the highest regard in this country and certainly in this city, the right for people to gather, the right to free speech and the right to protest," Shea said during a Monday press briefing. "But now comes the bad news, we're in a pandemic and executive orders have been issued, these are laws that have been passed down through executive order to keep people alive, while we greatly, greatly respect the right of people to protest, there should not be protests taking place in the middle of a pandemic by gathering outside and putting people at risk."

No sympathy whatsoever for New Yorkers. You get the government you voted for.
Decrees like this cannot stand.
Time to hold a protest in NYC.
smh
No Liberty, No Freedom to Assembly, No Constitution. Democrats = tyranny.
I’ll post this here, too...
A thought: maybe its time for free citizens to pick a day for all of us willing to do so to open, shop, throw off our shackles.
If the entire country does it all on the same day, they cant arrest all of us.
I think any action that large would also scare off any bureaucrats thinking of retaliating by pulling licenses and permits.
The Shop (sic) Heard Round the World.
During this quarantine the First Amendment is being shredded: governments have restricted religious practices, social media utilities have restricted the rights of individuals to express themselves and speak freely, and the guaranteed right of assembly is being abrogated.
As Dave Chapelle said, “The First Amendment is first for a reason. Second Amendment is just in case the first one doesn’t work out.”
Now they must protest.
So, now you can pass an executive order to usurp the Constitution? I dont think so.
The ChiComs won without firing a shot.
I didn’t vote for this.
Great opportunity for Civil Disobedience. For good or ill New Yorkers have a national rep for being respecters of nobody and being abrasive, aggressive and generally in your face. Now is the time for these people to step up and be very impolite to hizzoner and his lackey police commish.
We ALL must protest.
If we don’t hang together, we’ll hang separately.
I already protested in Sacramento on May 1st. Newsome moved to stage 2 pronto.
Grab te dog, family and a suitcase, New Yorkers, and leave
I think we need to go bigger, nationwide, same day...
Snake, where are you?
Good lord! Why not just urinate on the actual constitution.
