Asias murder hornets were spotted in the United States for the first time recently, causing scientists to worry that the insect might be colonizing.
In Japan, the hornets kill up to 50 people a year. Now, for the first time, they have arrived in the United States, the New York Times reported Saturday.
The article continued:
With queens that can grow to two inches long, Asian giant hornets can use mandibles shaped like spiked shark fins to wipe out a honeybee hive in a matter of hours, decapitating the bees and flying away with the thoraxes to feed their young. For larger targets, the hornets potent venom and stinger long enough to puncture a beekeeping suit make for an excruciating combination that victims have likened to hot metal driving into their skin.

Looks like it hurt.
“The initial sightings occurred in Washington state in December”
Washington state.
December.
Hmmmmm, there’s something else that reminds me of...
#81, D’oh!
wouldn’t that just be the bees’ knees.
Anything like the dreaded Africanized honey-bees that were supposed be the end of all humanity 20 years ago?
You mean right when everyone was going to bleed out from ebola?
that’s sexist- what about the Bee’s Nephews?
that dude is insane lol- have you seen his other videos too? He’s had a huge snapping turtle bite his arm (i think he had some protection though on that one)- a gila monster bite him, a centipede- huge one- many many things that make people shudder-
Damn. Say goodbye to American honeybees.
There was a Nat. Geographic or some such documentary on the Japanese hornet-— great microfootage of the hornet getting into a beehive... and the worker bees surround the hornet, then bees have the ability to raise their own body temperature, and the thermal film shows this—— they “cook” and kill the invading hornet.
At great cost to the worker bees numbers-— but it wipes out the hornet who cannot return to their homebase and give course vectors to the hive.... so the video said.
Great stuff.
WD-40 hose them with it..... dead in seconds. One at a time, though.
THEM.
great movie; a bit of dialogue I liked...
Edmund Gwenn: I think we’ll have to saturate the nest...
James Arness: If we get out of this, I’m gonna show you how saturated I can get...
Hmmm. How about just samantha bee? WFM.
Like most baddies, you kill it, the chemical pheremones that get released cause the others to swarm and attack.
I’m not much for the regular ones. These even less so.
They flamethrow/torch them at night.
LOL! Scared the crap out of me as a kid. But so did “Attack of The Crab Monsters!!!???&&**##”
Too expensive. Grill lighter and some 20 foot wasp spray. Hit em for 2 seconds and they’re ready to eat. If there’s a bunch in one spot, you can get em all in one sweeping motion and have enough for a meal.
Looks like a triple shot from my Bug-A-Salt... One to knock the wings off, another to immobilize, then a tap to finish it off!
The badass hornet is large enough to carry a tracking device. Follow it back to the nest, wear a medieval suit of armor, and go boom.
Making honeybee hives with smaller entrance to keep out the giant hornet doesn't work. Their pincer jaws work like wire cutters.
Looks like France has had a bit of success with a nematode. Causes the bad boy hornet's belly to explode.
thats what they do
they lure one with a water source then a guy traps it in a net. he ties a piece of colored string on it, and lets it go
a spotter guy and him follow the thing back to the nest to locate it
then at night,...flame on
