MSNBC’s Steve Schmidt: Michigan Protesters ‘Brown-Shirted Stormtroopers’
Breitbart ^ | 30 April 2020 | Pam Key

Posted on 04/30/2020 7:25:21 PM PDT by KC_Lion

MSNBC’s “The Beat,” Steve Schmidt, John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign manager, compared the lockdown protestors in Michigan to the Nazi Party’s original wing.

..

Melber said, “You have Michigan state Senator Dayna Polehanki, ‘Directly above me, men with rifles yelling at us. Some of my colleagues who own bulletproof vests are wearing them. I have never appreciated our Sergeants-at-Arms more than today.’ Your view of this, Steve?”

Schmidt said, “This is appalling. Someone needs to explain to me what the difference is between those guys and a bunch of brown-shirted Stormtroopers in 1925 is. I’m very serious about this. This is about the Second Amendment. This isn’t about gun ownership. These are temples of democracy, these buildings, where we with test the premise each generation, whether we retain the capacity to govern ourselves. Free speech is important in this country. They are not protesters. When you show up in tactical gear carrying a tactical weapon an AR-15, an M-4, an AK-47, you’re there to intimidate. You’re assaulting the tenants of our system, which is a system that exists to preserve the rule of law, that is the oldest constitutional republic in the world. We should not think for a second, as we’re at the dawn of a new moment in history, that because extremism didn’t rise in a way that was able to take over the country in the past that it’s not still here and it still doesn’t pose a threat. Nobody should be comforted by those images whether you’re a Trump supporter, whether you’re a Biden supporter, whether you’re not going to vote at all. We don’t do that in this country. That is an appalling image, and it makes us look like a basket case as they are beamed out around the world to our allies and to our enemies.”

So people are supposed to be p*ssies because of the leftist media that are part of the problem in the first place?

Our nation was born in war and each and everyone of our constitutional rights were paid for in blood.

It may again be necessary to shed blood to insure our rights remain.

Liberals, the question is about right, wrong, living, and dying. I am willing to kill and die for my country, my constitution, and my rights under that constitution.

Are you as liberals willing to die to bring about your socialism and communism?

I do not want war but am willing to give my life to protect our constitution.

Someone needs to explain to me what the difference is between those guys and a bunch of brown-shirted Stormtroopers in 1925 is.

Nice try, shifting the burden of proof there, Mr. Schmidt!

Mr. Schmidt should instead be forced to enumerate the similarities between the Brown Shirts and patriotic Americans trying to defend their 2A rights!

“it makes us look like a basket case as they are beamed out around the world to our allies and to our enemies.” Some are inclined to fret over what others think. Some are not. I’m not.

Excellent observation!

After the abortive Beer Hall Putsch in November 1923 the Nazi Party and the Stormtroopers were basically outlawed so they weren't around in 1925. Get your history straight snowflake. And the bully boys of the SA weren't about less government control, capitalism, free speech and free assembly. They were the very opposite of that. This is about American citizens wanting their lives back.

We have it relatively easy here, that’s true. Some of the measures, in Michigan and other states, do seem too draconian, and not helpful. Governments shouldn’t micromanage — they can never do well at it.

OTOH, asking people to stay 6’ apart, and to wear a mask in crowds is more of a minor inconvenience than a threat to civil liberties. Demonstrators at the legislature showed a complete disregard for the safety of others. If you don’t know you’re not infected, you should assume that you are. Kind of like you assume every gun is loaded. The virus can spread if you’re respiring forcefully — like the grizzly-bear guy, up in the cop’s face, yelling. All that demonstrates is irresponsible behaviour. The cop could have charged that guy with reckless endangerment — what he did isn’t materially different from an HIV-positive person spitting on someone. The principle is exactly the same. It’s not a good look.

Demonstrations, for ending restrictions are great — there’s no reason why they can’t also demonstrate that the people will act responsibly.

They are afraid.

It is as it should be.

The elected must always fear the electorate.

Ok,you are not Amelrican so you don’t understand our history.

The lock down will only last as long as we let it last and it is already beginning to fall apart. Our elected officials can stay in power only as long as we allow and if we determine they are not serving our best interests we can remove them and do not have to wait for their term to end.

Our Constitution provides the mechanism to get rid of the bastards any time we choose.

The prog libs have just found out that a great many Americans are ready to take up arms against Dictatorial tyrants. You touch people’s money and livelihoods and this country will go up in flames.

Aussie sensibilities....if you are a friend, at least stay out of this debate. I suspect though the US is going to fracture as the differences between the libs and conservatives are just too great.

While I think the governor is an idiot, somebody was going to need to go to the bathroom during the “movie” which means people sneaking out of cars looking for bushes. That was probably the governor’s justification. The fact that she is extending her lock down out of spite shows just what an a-hole she is.

Taxpayers paid for that building, everything in it and pay the salaries of the people that work there. It's The People's building
