I'm amazed at the number of people who are willing to basically stop all living as we know it for the illusion of safety. No one is safe from a bug this contagious that can travel on things and people for days or weeks.

Is that damage from the virus itself or from the body’s excessive immune response like the man burning down his house to kill a spider.
Still and all .... 166,000 deaths out of nearly 8 BILLION people? And the whole world was shut down because of it?
The whole phenomenon is starting to remind me of Second Thessalonians (Chapter 2, Verses 9-12), wherein God sends a “strong delusion” on an unbelieving world, “that they shall believe a lie”.
Sorry for second post. I’m not saying the virus isn’t deadly, and I’m most definitely not saying it doesn’t do horrible things to the organs. What I’m talking about is the mass hysteria aspect of it all.

It's a big number, isn't it? I'm reminded of that oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico some years ago. Everybody was running around screaming about how the spill was churning out thousands and thousands of gallons of oil per day, and that the entire ecosystem of the Gulf would be destroyed, with all the attendant horrors. At the time, I pointed out that the total amount of oil spilled wouldn't have filled the New Orleans superdome, and invited any doubters to bring up Google Earth and see just how much of an area that was compared to the size of the Gulf. Of course the answer was, a pinprick. And so it is with this.

Only because every COVID infected person who dies is counted as a COVID fatality, regardless of any other diseases that might be present.
And, at least in the USA, nursing homes and hospices are now counting every person who had flu like symptoms before death - but was not tested for COVID - as a COVID fatality.
By the way - at least 230,000 people have died of influenza in the world this year.
