American laborers sacrificing to work a nearly month-long shift were finally able to clock out Monday.
Braskem America in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, has been in operation round-the-clock for at least 28 days, manufacturing raw materials needed for the production of N95 masks, hospital gowns and sanitary wipes put in short supply by the ongoing pandemic.
Of course, a manufacturing effort of that magnitude requires manpower and, according to WPVI-TV, 40 Braskem staff members have shouldered the responsibility, volunteering to live at the facility for four weeks straight in order to keep production moving.

Why do so many of our news stories seem like they should be in Pravda, circa 1942?
I can’t wait to hear how the wheat harvest will be this year!
Sorry, a wart virus killed the wheat. No bread for you.
Looks like Braskem is within part of the old Sunoco Marcus Hook refinery. In fact looking at Google Sat it’s across Blueball Av. from the former R&D lab where my late stepdad worked. Thanks, Braskem.
I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble but there’s no shortage of polypropylene resin. If they had stayed home it wouldn’t have made any difference and running a resin plant 24/7 is normal. Working the crews 12 hours for 40 days isn’t, but that’s not necessary unless you don’t have enough people. Have done 10 weeks like this during strikes and it wasn’t too bad.
Stories of sacrifice are inspiring. They sell copy. They get clicks.
Self implowed folks never have a day off
no way they stayed awake for a whole 28 day shift. the need to call it what it was. maybe they worked 28 days straight but not 28 days long shift without sleep or some chunk of time off at all.
Hmmm. I don’t think anyone is assuming they stayed awake for 28 days. Worked plenty of months 7 days 12 on 12 off.
When all else fails reading the article helps. :-)

this is our future....the people with no skin in the game expecting we rabble to do their bidding because they're "afraid"....
How did I get left off of your Philly list? Put me back, pls, KS!
So private industry, and regular American workers figured out a way to keep production moving, I am not trying to advocate any policy solutions preventing the spread of a highly contagious virus, without the government telling them exactly what to do.
And, there are lots of places hiring right now.
In the power repair and support industries, we (our crews and our engineers) spent 24 hours per day at the plants, in two 12 hour shift, seven days a week. With turnovers and safety meetings, the engineers and crew leads and foremen spend 92-93 hour work works for 4-6 weeks regularly. The crew has 84 hour work weeks.
God bless them :)
Running many factories 24/7 is standard procedure. (That's where the terms "2nd shift" and "3rd shift" come from, as anyone who has ever worked in a 24/7 factory like that would know.)
In this instance, that does not seem to be the case in normal times for this factory. (In which case, I'm just sitting here idly wondering if they provided good showering facilities and extreme blast deodorant for their sweaty workers, and if they arranged for conjugal visits for those who wanted them during those 28 days.)
Many thanks for posting!
My hats off to those factory workers, and everyone else on the front lines!
Yes we can !!!
Thank all y’all for your service!!!!
Yes we can!!!!
