I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble but there’s no shortage of polypropylene resin. If they had stayed home it wouldn’t have made any difference and running a resin plant 24/7 is normal. Working the crews 12 hours for 40 days isn’t, but that’s not necessary unless you don’t have enough people. Have done 10 weeks like this during strikes and it wasn’t too bad.
Running many factories 24/7 is standard procedure. (That's where the terms "2nd shift" and "3rd shift" come from, as anyone who has ever worked in a 24/7 factory like that would know.)
In this instance, that does not seem to be the case in normal times for this factory. (In which case, I'm just sitting here idly wondering if they provided good showering facilities and extreme blast deodorant for their sweaty workers, and if they arranged for conjugal visits for those who wanted them during those 28 days.)
During my oilfield days I would work offshore for 28 days then off for 28 days. My work day would average 12 hours. Sometimes it was 0 hours and sometimes 24 hours. It was no sacrifice. They filled my pockets with a great deal of money.
