Trump, Putin Statement Stirs Concern Among Some
Wall Street Journal ^ | April 25 2020 | By Michael R. Gordon and Gordon Lubold

President Trump issued a symbolic joint statement Saturday with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a move that has stirred debate within the Trump administration and spawned concern among some lawmakers on Capitol Hill, according to people familiar with the document.

The unusual declaration is intended to commemorate the 75th anniversary of a meeting between American and Soviet troops at the Elbe River on April 25, 1945.

The broader intent is to underscore how the two nations can put aside their differences for a larger purpose, according to people familiar with its drafting.

“The ‘Spirit of the Elbe’ is an example of how our countries can put aside differences, build trust, and cooperate in pursuit of a greater cause,” it states.

I guess the Wall Street Journal, along with nevertrumpers and neocons in Congress and the administration, want conflict with Russia.

That’s one reason they have hated from the beginning , he said why shouldn’t we try to get along with Russia?

Meanwhile, they’re fine with getting smog with dictators in China and Saudi. Only post-communist Russia , a Christians country with low taxes, is the object of their hate. Very strange.

“ At the State Department, officials have repeatedly complained that Russia was providing critical military support for Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad’s ongoing offensive in Idlib province.”

And why is that a problem? ASsad is fighting jihadists who want to set up a Muslim theocracy and genocide the country’s religious minorities including Christians

Why do US officials want to promote the head chopping jihadis?

If for no other reason than opposing Islamism, Russia should be our ally, at least on a de facto basis.

So this is collusion with Russia and Trump can be impeached for it. /s

I guess I shouldn’t even kid about that. Nadler and Schiff are probably looking at Cliff’s Notes now to see if that’s in the Constitution somewhere. Maybe Don Lemon or Jake Tapper can tell them.

I agree. The U.S. and Russia were allies twice — WW I and WW II — and if things really do go in threes, maybe it would be wise to remain cordial with them, in case WW III comes knocking on the door (by way of China). Considering how strained and rocky Russia’s relationship with China has always been, maybe they’re thinking much the same thing.

Then again, no matter what Pres. Trump does, there’s ALWAYS going to be someone, somewhere, bitching about something. SMH.

You blissfully ignore so much about Russia and who and what they support that it’s disgusting. And I respect putun. I think we should try to get along with him but I do not trust him and he has put money towards governments that have taken American lives and he does not lose sleep over it and I find your support reprehensible and ignorant.

unless as Putin does you believe the worst event of the 20th century was the fall of the Soviet Union. Wake the ### up

and check out what images are being put up in the newest Church being built. Such fools some are.

It is strange, isn’t it. Why, it’s almost as if the CCP had bought up media and newspaper companies and now those media companies were beholden to them.

We have regularly held our nose as a country and worked with other countries when it serves our purposes. We have done this over and over. In fact we have to hold our nose to work with most countries in this world.

Oh, Good Lord. What “concern”? The Allies, including the Soviets, defeated an even worse evil, Nazism. That’s a Good Thing, even if, like me, you don’t like Communism, the former Soviet Union, Stalin, et. al. The defeat of Hitler is definitely something to commemorate, even if our current leaders don’t see eye to eye on a great many things.

Just the IQ 60 cretins in the Fake News trying to create “controversy” where there shouldn’t be any.

From the article:

“Joint statements commemorating Elbe day by Russian and U.S. leaders have been rare. President Obama and then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev issued such a declaration in 2010.”

Where was the outcry then from the MSM and Democrat members of Congress?

It’s their church, not yours. They don’t have to pander to your feeling.
Typical stupid emotional narcissistic teenagers’ mindset.
