Rep. Adam Smith (D - Shithole state). Making a demand for a decision before he read the report. Sounds like he’s on something aka Obama and Pelosi and Obamacare. You have to pass it before you can read it.

Only in a Marxist/Leftist Bizarro World do people make stupid statements like Smith’s, but then again, he’s a Democrat where “stupidity” is the “New Norm” and “sanity” as a word and concept is Verboten, mein kommeradin”.

Let justice be done.

The man was persecuted for trying to defend the health and lives of those entrusted to his command.

This, in any other era, would be called good leadership and worthy of high commendation.

One HAS to wonder just how tone deaf the Navy brass is!

Reinstating a Commanding Officer who INTENTIONALLY bypassed the Chain of Command and INTENTIONALLY leaked his letter to the press not only should NOT be reinstated, but forcibly retired!

Acting SECNAV Modly did the right and proper thing by firing Captain Crozier. He screwed up BIGLY by flying to TR and trashing Crozierm and was rightfully fired.

....it would seem to indicate that the issue was somewhere in his chain of command.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Exactly.

That person or persons need to be reprimanded into retirement.

There are indeed times when one does not second guess or ignore the stridently made chain of command requests by a Captain with a ship of the line on deployment.

Such a ship must maintain its readiness, or retire from the line to be replaced for the sake of the continued security of the United States.

Your right about Smith. We have been gone from WA state for 14 years now, but I remember him and their fine governor now. He was our congressional rep when we lived in Kitsap County. Insley was from Bainbridge Island I think.

The military is still suffering from the eight years of communism under Osama Obammy. Trump has not had 3 1/2 years as Commander In Chief. The most senior officers now were still on active duty as senior officers during obammy’s rule.

TR needs a new CO!

Captain Crozier MUST be retired!

To allow him to resume his command will cause MAJOR problems throughout the US military for years to come!

President Trump MUST not allow this perversity of the Chain of Command to take root!

Trump is the one pulling the strings here. If you think the naval bureaucracy would do this on their own think again. Several days after under sec of the navy Modly relieved Crozier and then trashed talked him to his crew Trump jumped in and took sides. Then Moldy was canned. Now Crozier is being reinstated. Thats Trump at work folks.

At that level they are pure politicians, duh.

The last Navy Secy who bucked Trump got summarily fired. So the CNO apparently doesn’t want the same treatment.

“If he goes back to that same ship, the conflict may start anew. There was a certain officer on that ship that this captain has never gotten along with. Don’t put those two back together. They’ll be locking horns in no time. It will divide the crew. Give him a different ship to command.”

I assume you are referring to the Admiral (probably head of the task force) who also has his HQ on the TR. It was obvious to me from the beginning that the only reason Crozier went the way he did had to be that this Admiral refused his initial plea - and wouldn’t make it himself through proper channels. If that is true, there is much truth to the comparison of Crozier’s action to Theodore Roosevelt’s “round robin” letter that caused such a furor at the end of Spanish-American War - but did get the US Army soldiers suffering from Yellow Fever evacuated....

>>>”But a copy of the letter obtained by The Washington Post last week showed Crozier sent it to the three admirals and copied it to seven captains.”<<<

So, which one of them leaked it to the WaPoo? Might be time for a Firing Squad.

Yeah, when 250,000 people sign a petition in support of a captain, the Commander-in-Chief is going to pay attention to those potential voters.

Tax payer here. I’m going to say hell no.

Unless we’re talking about serious malpractice of justice, when a captain is removed for administratice cause or fault he should stay removed.

In the business world, if you fire someone for cause, even if that cause is a minor infraction, you do not give the same job back.

The man with the final say, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper has not yet reached a decision. Just like in civilian life, sometimes initial rulings are reversed on appeal.

Having a Democrat Congressman pulling for him hurts Crozier’s chances. Any better recommendations? Any three-card monte hustlers want to put in a good word for him? Pitt bull street corner fight promoters? Retired getaway car drivers?

So many military absolutists out there demanding blood for an email. CAPT Crozier may be a great officer, may be a slimy politician, but I know a few things.

One of the things I know is that if you destroy a career military man’s career for an act of courage, you will destroy the courage of every career military man within earshot and have an impact crater going out at two levels on hearsay. F’ with valor once and don’t ever expect to see valor again in your neighborhood unless it’s by accident.

Another thing I know is that the U.S. military has a trail of profoundly stupid personnel decisions that could wrap around the earth a thousand times. Thousands of officers who beat their wives and driven around post drunk, abused subordinates and grabbed boobs of subordinate enlisted. Nearly any serviceman can list off a few that they’ve seen and some can rattle off a list a mile long. That so many people consider this particular incident the one that destroys naval operations or command influence everywhere is just dumb.

The only people who don’t eventually mess up are people who never take chances, and those people make sh## officers.
