The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is warning doctors against prescribing a malaria drug widely touted by President Donald Trump for treating the new coronavirus outside of hospitals or research settings.

In an alert Friday, regulators flagged reports of serious side effects and death among patients taking hydroxychloroquine and the related drug chloroquine. The drugs, also prescribed for lupus, can cause a number of side effects, including heart rhythm problems, severely low blood pressure and muscle or nerve damage.

This newest HCQ hitpiece by the AssPress is anonymous.

They're learning, after their "chief medical correspondent" Marilynn Marchione got beat up over her lying article on HCQ a few days ago.

The swamp creatures in the FDA strike back.

What a crock! It’s super safe. Hundreds of millions of doses per year prescribed. HCQ been around since...1955? But now, has serious side effects lol!!! Guess the clinical trials are going well.

Gotta nip this in the bud! Even though flu death #’s the same as Covid #’s. Can’t end the crises too soon. Not before America is destroyed, and socialism gains traction.

Rheumatologists knowmit well, and prescribe it like candy, without heart monitoring:

“Hydroxychloroquine typically is very well tolerated. Serious side effects are rare. The most common side effects are nausea and diarrhea, which often improve with time. Less common side effects include rash, changes in skin pigment (such as darkening or dark spots), hair changes, and muscle weakness. Rarely, hydroxychloroquine can lead to anemia in some individuals. This can happen in individuals with a condition known as G6PD deficiency or porphyria.

In rare cases, hydroxychloroquine can cause visual changes or loss of vision. Such vision problems are more likely to occur in individuals taking high doses for many years, in individuals 60 years or older, those with significant kidney or liver disease, and those with underlying retinal disease. At the recommended dose, development of visual problems due to the medication is rare. It is recommended that you have an eye exam within the first year of use, then repeat every 1 to 5 years based on current guidelines.

Additional rare reports of changes in the heart rhythm have been reported with the use of hydroxychloroquine, particularly in combination with other medications. While monitoring for this risk is not typical in the office setting, it has been indicated in hospitalized and critically ill patients to evaluate for interactions with other medications.”

We are constantly bombarded with drug commercials on TV that express multiple side effects. So what is the difference with
Hydroxy?

From the CDC pamphlet on taking HCQ for malaria:

“What are the potential side
effects of hydroxychloroquine?
Hydroxychloroquine is a relatively well tolerated
medicine. The most common adverse reactions
reported are stomach pain, nausea, vomiting,
and headache. These side effects can often be
lessened by taking hydroxychloroquine with
food. Hydroxychloroquine may also cause
itching in some people.
All medicines may have some side effects.
Minor side effects such as nausea, occasional
vomiting, or diarrhea usually do not require
stopping the antimalarial drug. If you cannot
tolerate your antimalarial drug, see your
health care provider; other antimalarial drugs
are available.”

And:

“How long is it safe to use
hydroxychloroquine?
CDC has no limits on the use of
hydroxychloroquine for the prevention of
malaria. When hydroxychloroquine is used
at higher doses for many years, a rare eye
condition called retinopathy has occurred.
People who take hydroxychloroquine for
more than five years should get regular
eye exams.”

Nothing about heart worries. Quick! Pull the info from their site!!! Orange Man Bad!

If you look at the paperwork that comes with any prescription, every single one has a long list of possible side effects.

Death is a potential side effect of coronavirus. Therefore, we should not prescribe a 65-year-old drug because it MAY kill the patient. Tautology in its purest form

When taken at the proper dosage hydroxychloroquine is a safe drug for most people. If it wasn’t it would never have passed FDA inspection. As with any other medication there will always be a few it hurts more than it helps. People with heart problems should avoid h-chloroquine.

A later post on FR, this is what New York said:

Patients treated with hydroxychloroquine have no better chance of survival than those who don't receive the drug hailed by Trump as a 'game-changer', results of a New York state Health Department trial suggest. 'I think from the review that I heard basically it was not seen as a positive, not seen as a negative,' said Governor Andrew Cuomo during CNN's coronavirus town hall.

“...reports of serious side effects and death among patients taking hydroxychloroquine and the related drug chloroquine. The drugs, also prescribed for lupus, can cause a number of side effects, including heart rhythm problems, severely low blood pressure and muscle or nerve damage.

...FAKE NEWS!

Here they go again, conflating hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine.

Using the serious side effects of one drug (chloroquine) to discredit another drug (hydroxychloroquine) with different, less severe, and rare side effects.

Also conflating hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine as being used to treat lupus. Only hydroxychloroquine is used for lupus.

Where they both ARE used is for Malaria. Again, chloroquine, is the one with all the severe side effects!

Direct LIES and lies by omission, which are still LIES!

I think TDS is a REAL thing. Lefties would rather see people stay sick, get sicker, and even DIE if they think they can discredit Trump doing so.

The ONLY explanation for this is EVIL. SIN. The EVIL one has to be behind this. It’s the ONLY explanation that makes sense. It’s a spiritual attack.

For you non-believers.... WAKE UP!

Swamp was NEVER drained. Swamp is running the virus crisis to the letter of every Alinsky rule.

I had to take a blood thinner after very scary blood clots post surgery. The side effects were pages long but it saved my life. Not one side effect BTW. My O2 level was only a few % down and I felt like I was going to pass out by drowning. The levels that some Corona patients have is 10x or more of that. I cannot imagine that horror and we have a-holes playing bureaucratic and political games while people are gasping for air and their very lives.

“...reports of serious side effects and death among patients taking hydroxychloroquine...”

DEATH!??????

Death is NOT a side effect of hydroxychloroquine!

They died from COVID-19! or what COVID-19 did to them.

“Doctor this patient dying. Quick, give him hydroxychloroquine so we can blame his death on TRUMP!”

Yes. Plaquenil is horrid long term. That is the long and short of it. It is harmful LONG TERM. A few days is no worse or better than most dangerous drugs.

Lyrica, Neurontin, are highly addictive, horrible side effects and FDA just came out with breathing issues.

Niece’s dog had seizures last night, they gave him the same crap Plaquenil she takes for Lupus/Sjogren’s which are slow killer diseases, just lower dose. Only she is stuck on it for what few years she has left. She is not even 35.

Prediction; the lawsuits emanating from covid-19 will last for 100 years, just as the lawsuits of 9/11.
