Waves of people are trying to leave New York for the suburbs and smaller cities amid growing fears that the city may never return to its former glory or that it will take years to get there.
Among those fleeing are parents with young children who had already been eyeing moves to suburbs and were give a push when the pandemic hit, and frustrated singletons who no longer see the point in paying exorbitant rent prices for small apartments when there is no city beyond their homes for them to enjoy.
It has sparked questions of whether New York will bounce back – like it did in the 1920s after the Spanish Flu, when there was a spike in creativity and population growth – but also fears that the Big Apple, beloved for its chaotic density and busyness, may never be the same again.

It wasn’t New Jersey that tried to make the rest of the nation into West Nee Jersey ... but New Jersey’s hoity toity living off of the financial achievements of the past and floating along while it lives off of the churn of other people’s lives big city neighbor.
Some New Yorkers have finally figured out that de Blasio and Cuomo are malicious idiots threatening their financial and medical heath?
Well it’s a start.
The problem with these people is the same as with the Left Coast people, is that they bring their political and cultural values with them.
The’ve crapped their own nest, and are looking for new ones to dirty.
In my own observations I’ve noticed a difference between the Kalifornians and New Yorkers. The CA folks are less apt to be arrogant. The New Yorkers act like they are above us all.
