Nova Scotia RCMP have confirmed an additional four victims of the weekend killing spree, bringing the total death toll to 22 in what is now one of the deadliest massacres in Canadian history.
Officials say it could take months to unravel the lone suspects violent path across the province as they continue to probe 16 different crime scenes, including five structure fires where police have found human remains.

23 including the psycho. The body count rose after they were able to enter the 5 residences that were burned by this guy, who used a fake RCMP patrol vehicle, and wore an authentic police uniform. It started with killing his Ex, and some neighbours and former colleagues he had a grudge against. But there were quite a few innocent bystanders, as well as an RCMP officer whose car was torched. It's not clear how many died from gunshots, and how many died from the fires.
In terms of magnitude, since Canada was created in 1867 there was only one time when a single incident resulted in 23 deaths: 1873, when a group of hunters and trappers killed 23 native people in western Canada, when it was still a wilderness. Since then, there has been only one incident with more than 9 deaths: the 1989 shooting of 15 students at a college in Quebec. That this occurred in a rural area of a province known for its friendliness, makes it even more shocking.

This is a terrible evil act. As this is investigated we may well learn he was mentally unbalanced.

-—a sad situation, indeed but I am still curious as to what weapon(s) were used and why the silence about that?

Canada has way strict firearms laws. Whatever they were, this rampage proves gun control can’t stop homicidal maniacs.

Apparently the killing went on for about two hours before he was shot to death.
He was a person who was obsessed by police and police activity. He was wearing an actual RCMP uniform, and drove a car that had been made to look like an RCMP patrol unit.

There’s some question of RCMP incompetence in all this.
This guy was allowed to around for 12 hours killing and burning, yet the RCMP (in charge of policing rural areas) never issued any public citizens warning, either on public media or thru cellphones. This despite sending an emergency cellphone warning abound not going outside on the Easter weekend.
The RCMP refuses to give any details at their “press conferences”, including what gun the guy used. Why should that matter? The implication is that he might have had one of the RCMP’s weapons, that’s why they refuse to talk about it.
Right now, you get more details about this incident from the American news outlets.
Wouldn’t be the first time the RCMP was incompetent.

Of course it's government policy in Canada that no civilian needs a firearm for self-defense, so nobody except the police had the firepower to stop this individual. And the perp killed an RCMP officer and took her gun.
Your rulers created this situation. "Gun control" once again makes the world safer for criminals.

(Fact: Gun control laws kill innocents.)

Some Nova Scotians who learned of the rampage Saturday night said they assumed the suspect was apprehended by Sunday morning. In fact, it wasnt until around 12 p.m. that the attacker was located and killed.
So it went on fro more than just 2 hours.
He may have just been using the law enforcement as cover to be able to get in close to his victims.

I'm a somewhat follower of crime and law enforcement in Canada via YouTube. I have the impression that the RCMP in particular operates under the principle of "if you do the paperwork, the crimes will solve themselves." Also they are very big on confidentiality and making sure that no one can see what they're doing.

Well, the story said the first call to police was at 10 PM and that he was killed around 12 PM. Of course, "12 PM" could be midnight and it could be noon, which is why we have thos-e two words to help us tell the difference.
