President Donald Trump announced Tuesday he will be placing a 60-day pause on the issuance of certain immigration green cards in an effort to limit competition for jobs in a U.S. economy wrecked by the coronavirus.
“To protect American workers, I will be issuing a temporary suspension of immigrating into the United States,” Trump said at a White House briefing after tweeting about the order late Monday night.
Trump said that the move would not impact those in the country on a temporary basis and would apply only to those looking for green cards in hopes of staying.
An administration official familiar with the plans had said earlier the order would be focused on preventing people from winning permission to live and work in the U.S. That would include those seeking employment-based green cards and relatives of green card holders who are not citizens. Americans who wish to bring immediate family to the country would still be able to do so, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity before the plan was announced. It’s a start. I really have no problem with immigrants that assimilate, but there needs to be a pause, actually a long pause. Not for the virus. Not for jobs. But for Americanism. Let the market determine jobs. Americans need to equip themselves with skills and knowledge greater than someone that is only qualified to pick vegetables, landscape or frame a house. There is nothing wrong with jobs, but they really are not highly skilled. I expect more out of Americans. Be a great tool and die maker. Engineer something. Build something. It’s time that we stop buying crap from China and make products so superior at home that they are the envy of the world. It used to be that way. That’s where to focus some more policy magic Mr. President.

There is a point in the green card process where you are approved but not yet issued a green card. Those who reach this status can basically do whatever a green card holder can do, except leave the country.
I am sure they are going to leave the free money to work in a meat packing plant for minimum wage.

Been 18 months so far trying to get my wife and the mother of our US Citizen child a green card. Hopefully if the other riff raff is not in line a the immigration office we will get seen soon.
