Almost three-quarters of adults living in the United States are afraid that the coronavirus will diminish their personal freedoms.
According to a Hill-HarrisX poll released on Monday, 74% of respondents said they fear losing liberties as a result of the pandemic. The survey, which was taken from April 6 to 7, was conducted as governors around the nation began implementing aggressive social distancing policies.
At that time, many governors had placed bans on gatherings of more than 10 people and barred residents from eating in restaurants, visiting movie theaters, and going to work for businesses deemed nonessential. The survey was taken before many states had ramped up their restrictions, triggering protests across the nation, including demonstrations against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's ban on selling nonessential items.
With many states barring nonessential workplaces from functioning, 43% of respondents reported fears of losing their jobs. More than 21 million people have been added to the jobless numbers since the pandemic hit the U.S.

Fear losing?
Snort.
That shipped sailed weeks ago.
We don't fear losing liberties to the coronavirus.
We fear losing liberties taken by the government.

I imagine the passengers feared losing their liberties when the boxcars rolled into the concentration camps of Eastern Europe in the 1940s, too.
What have we done to our great grandchildren?
‘74% of respondents said they fear losing liberties as a result of the pandemic.’
there was some poster on one of these threads the other day who kept proclaiming, loudly, that he hadn’t lost any liberties at all; likewise, in my rumbles with a local FB page following the virus, a person I know proudly stated ‘I don’t feel I’ve lost anything at all through these lockdowns; in fact, I’ve gained a great deal of my soul...’
I’m afraid the majority of Americans, particularly women, if push comes to shove will abide months more of this shutdown, and counter it by saying things like ‘I can still come and go as I please, and I can go to the market whenever I need stuff...’ and actually believe what they are saying...
The flip side of this is that most business owners that deal directly with customers probably have no choice in the matter. Id love to patronize any business whose owner tells the governor to Eff off! and opens his doors ... but I cant convince any business owner to do it.
But will everyone act on this when they vote in November? Will they remember that Democrats denied them their 1st and 2nd amendment rights?
The other one in four aspire to be enforcers or snitches.
It’s 2 for 2 at my house.
The only time I wear a silly-azzed face mask is when a business demands it, and mine has big letters on it:

I ran the bloody flag up the mast months ago.
/woman still going out but there’s no damn place to go, getting more pissed every second of every day.
Federalist Society putting on a CLE for lawyers about Constitutional rights during a pandemic. This Friday. Free.
I agree with you. Add to your advice to them to get a lawyer on their side to fight off the government.
Great idea!
“The other one in four aspire to be enforcers or snitches.”
Ding, ding, ding! Folks, we have a winner!! Money quote of the day!
Seriously, the pandemic has petty tyrants popping up like toadstools after a rain. Just as dangerous, too.
Fear not... You HAVE lost your personal liberties. This is not a question for some trumped up survey, it is reality.
What we really need are white-on-red MAGA face masks and Gadsden flag masks.
That will end the masking mandates in a hurry.
In the meantime the liberals will wet themselves.
