MARION, Ohio (WCMH) More than 1,800 inmates at Marion Correctional Institution have tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus.
As of Sunday, 1,828 Marion Correctional inmates have tested positive, along with 109 staff members. Of the 1,828 cases, 38 are currently receiving outside hospital level care, according to an Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction spokesperson.
There are approximately 2,500 inmates in the Marion Correctional Institution.
One staff death was announced on April 8, corrections officer John Dawson. No inmates at Marion Correctional have died.
According to the ODRC, mass testing has been instituted at Marion Correctional, as well as Pickaway Correctional and the Franklin Medical Center.
Because we are testing everyone including those who are not showing symptoms we are getting positive test results on individuals who otherwise would have never been tested because they were asymptomatic, ODRC said in its daily release of information.
Individuals who test positive are placed in an area of the facility which is separate from the general population, ODRCs statement said.
Also, our comprehensive testing approach of staff and inmates has assisted us in identifying asymptomatic individuals who have tested positive who can now be isolated from others in order to prevent further spread, the statement said.
Throughout Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction facilities, 2,400 inmates have tested positive and 637 have tested negative.
According to Marion Public Health, as of Saturday, there are 80 community spread cases in the county, leading to one death. Including the prison testing, the county now has the most reported coronavirus cases in the state.
So Once again when investigated, we are finding way way way more folks have this and are asymptomatic meaning the mortality rate of this, is way way lower... though the flip side is the reproductive rate may be higher than believed.
Well Well, I be danged....ChiTowns best “Bustin Out” ?

100% of the inmates tested positive for criminal conduct.
Why doesnt DeWine let em all out?! /S
There has been a bizarre fascination on the part of the media with convicts and prisons during the epidemic with a ridiculous glut of stories. The implication is clear: we should somehow care more about these criminals even as many of them are loosed without parole or other just cause.
Faulty Chinese test kits?
Not unless you subtract out the natural morbidity rate. It is very difficult to tease out the exact morbidity burden due to any cause.
I had COVID-19 three weeks ago (confirmed with a test). I’m 73 and I was quite sick for three days. But...it never got into my lungs so I healed quickly. My wife, who is 71 got it as well, but it was a very mild case. For me, this was a bit scary, especially on the first day when I was shivering quite violently. But I recovered and all is well.
The same situation here in Fla. If your suggesting an employee infected the inmates that is certainly one possibly. Remember in many states inmates have face to face visitation with family and friends... Not to mention congigal. Also volunteers e.g. churches and teachers. All it would take is for one inmate that works in the prison kitchen to get infected and off you go. The kitchen infection theory my personal guess.
because it is in the best interest of our political overlords for keep the population panicked and submissive. And the sheeple willing comply. I think you have identified as a Christian before (if not I apologize). I wonder if this is the beginning of the great deception. that will allow the ungodly to take over society. The response has been that unreal....

Hmmm.. the infected are placed in an area separate from the general population? It seems to me the infected ARE the general population.
The uninfected (and previously infected who already no longer test positive for virus shedding) are the minority.
Eventually numbers corner liars. Not right away, but in time.
Any severe unexplained back pain?
Nothing will keep those who will get infected from becoming infected. It is a contagious disease widespread in the general population. Everyone is free to take all the precautions they feel right for themselves but there is no evidence the current lockdown has changed the course of the disease one whit
Yes lawyers. Thanks. I knew I forgot a group that visits inside. My churches prison ministry I volunteer in got kicked out 6 weeks ago. I don’t foresee getting back in for quite some time.
1800 positive cases of Coronavirus out of 2500 inmates is a 71% infection rate. The prison is a 'perfect' closed ecosystem, to help discern infection rates etc...on paper.
And yet, so is the Princess Cruise infection rate was reported to be 20%.
And so is the USS Theodore Roosevelt, which had a 589/4845 = 12% infection rate.
How is this possible?
It’s just common sense. You are in a very small minority if you believe that.
You’re about as sharp as a bowling ball.
