I’ve seen cars go around the railroad crossing gates and cross the track regardless.
But every once in a while they get hit by the train and get a darwin award.
For people who have to cross the tracks because they are in essential businesses, it helps then that the rest of us aren’t also trying to cross the tracks.
Ever had to stop on the tracks because the cars you thought were moving ahead of you stopped and you had nowhere to go? It’s not a fun feeling.

Im a civil engineer by trade, and have worked on a number of grade crossing improvement projects over the years. Earlier in my career my company worked on updating the USDOT-FRA design standards for grade crossings in the aftermath of some horrific incidents at grade crossings.
Guess what ... every grade crossing I've worked on is still there, and we do our best to improve them but we dont shut them down and disrupt thousands of travelers every day just because some nitwit drives around the gates and gets obliterated by a train.

It speaks for itself how you are grasping at the last possible straws.
