COLUMBUS, OhioJoAnn Fabric and Craft and Michaels stores in Ohio will be allowed to remain open during the coronavirus crisis after agreeing to social-distancing precautions, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yosts office.
Yost, a Columbus Republican, initially sent cease-and-desist letters to the two retailers, as well as Hobby Lobby, demanding they close their Ohio stores under Gov. Mike DeWines order to shut all non-essential businesses.
But while Hobby Lobby agreed to close its locations, JoAnn and Michaels argued they should be allowed to remain open because they offer essential services exempted under the governors order...

Hobby Lobby got in trouble in the beginning of April for not closing.
Were JoAnn's and Michael's stores open in Ohio in the beginning of April?
Well tell Colorado quickly. They are closed here and I am having serious withdrawal
Theyve been closed in Maryland for over a month.
Joann did open up for curb service.
Michaels in WV is open but limited hours and people.
So, everyone is now packed into Walmart buying their limited choices of fabric.
Wish they were open!
As a crafter, I need supplies - Michael’s, JoAnn’s and Hobby Lobby are all closed. I ordered what I needed online and they’ll ship me the supplies I need - whenever they get here, they get here. Staples is open, was there yesterday and they had toilet paper!
This is California, those stores have been closed for a while and I don’t see them opening up any time soon.
Tell me about it.
That and not being able to take two of my dogs out for their birthdays, for the first time in their lives, has put me over the edge.
California:
WalMart and Target have decided to further limit the number of shoppers allowed inside at one time - since then, my local WalMart has had a line out the door, down the sidewalk and (way) down the street. Target isn’t much better - neither had such lines before the “new” edict.
The worst is Krispy Kreme - only the drive-thru is open - the line went out the parking lot and down the road, looked like about 1/4 mile line. Was disappointed b/c I miss it but wasn’t going to get into at least an hour-long or longer line.
May have to order from über eats which says they can deliver from Krispy Kreme in 30-40 minutes. Don’t know how unless they have a special line for delivery services.
Withdrawal at my house is getting very bad!!
Im a a quilted. stress buying fabric is my coping mechanism. it aint pretty here either.....
I hope you get to take your fur babies out soon
The Hobby Lobby I drove by today in Texas was closed.
I thought you were in Maryland. You can’t take your dogs out?
Utterly absurd, that the largest fabric store, essential for making masks and other PPE would be deemed non-essential.
My wife has made several hundred masks over the past few weeks.
How about this? Government officials who have never done useful work in their life provide us with the best information that their limited minds can manage, and we the citizens will decide for ourselves what services are essential and what the relative risks are.
I have been having a hard time getting supplies online. I tried to order from Fabric.com and they have stated that due to Covid19 they have removed many items. Wouldn’t you know the fabric I needed is one of the many items they removed. Plus they are saying it could be upto 30 days for the items to ship.
I also order from Create For Less.com and placed an order over 3 weeks ago which has not shipped.
Everybody here is making face masks. On what planet is JoAnns Fabric not open?!!
JoAnn’s here in my little Oregon coastal town has been open all through this. Only problem: there is no elastic for face masks, so have to make fabric ties, which are a royal pain to sew. My sewing machine protests loudly when I get to the ties.
JoAnn’s and Michael’s didn’t get into trouble because know one knows the religious affiliation, if any of their owners, while Hobby Lobby is owned by ‘horrible, bigoted Christians’ and the anti-Christians can’t permit that.
It’s times like this that I’m glad that my obsession with estates sales has paid off.
I amassed so many craft supplies, and tools, that I’m constantly pulling out stuff that I forgot I had. Even found a whole tub of glue sticks, plexiglass and a box of seeds that I bought 2 years ago!
Will likely make a few mini greenhouses to start some seeds.
I suspected as much!
Everyone is looking for elastic I think. Amazon still has spools of 1/8 last I looked
Ping
I saw something that said cut a bungee cord open. It is full of elastic strips
“So, everyone is now packed into Walmart buying their limited choices of fabric.”
At both of the Walmarts near me, their fabric aisles are just as empty as the toilet paper aisles.
