How does coronavirus kill? Clinicians trace a ferocious rampage through the body, from brain to toes
Science Magazine ^ | Apr. 17, 2020 , 6:45 P | By Meredith Wadman, Jennifer Couzin-Frankel, Jocelyn Kaiser, Catherine Matacic

On rounds in a 20-bed intensive care unit (ICU) one recent day, physician Joshua Denson assessed two patients with seizures, many respiratory failure and others whose kidneys were on a dangerous downhill slide. Days earlier, his rounds had been interrupted as his team tried, and failed, to resuscitate a young woman whose heart had stopped. All shared one thing, says Denson, a pulmonary and critical care physician at Tulane University. “They are all COVID positive.”

As the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 surges past 2.2 million globally and deaths surpass 150,000, clinicians and pathologists are struggling to understand the damage wrought by the coronavirus as it tears through the body. They are realizing that although the lungs are ground zero, its reach can extend to many organs including the heart and blood vessels, kidneys, gut, and brain.

“[The disease] can attack almost anything in the body with devastating consequences,” says cardiologist Harlan Krumholz, “Its ferocity is breathtaking and humbling.”

Understanding the rampage could help the doctors on the front lines treat the fraction of infected people who become desperately and sometimes mysteriously ill. Does a dangerous, newly observed tendency to blood clotting transform some mild cases into life-threatening emergencies? Is an overzealous immune response behind the worst cases, suggesting treatment with immune-suppressing drugs could help? What explains the startlingly low blood oxygen that some physicians are reporting in patients who nonetheless are not gasping for breath? ...

What follows is a snapshot of the fast-evolving understanding of how the virus attacks cells around the body, especially in the roughly 5% of patients who become critically ill. Despite the more than 1000 papers now spilling into journals and onto preprint servers every week, a clear picture is elusive, as the virus acts like no microbe humanity has ever seen. ....

Yep, just a natural mutation of SARS. No bio-warfare engineering here. None. Nope.

Mom is 87 and still lives on her own.

I visit her regularly as do my sisters.

She still drives but has not gone anywhere for 4 weeks.

She’s not going anywhere for a while still.

Life can get back to normal with precautions for the majority...but not her. Not yet.

I’m glad there are treatments that are working well.

But she’s still home for another month at least...

She likes having her own apartment and just try telling her she needs to live with one of us.

It is knownthat this virus attaches at ACE2 receptors, which are all over the body, especially in the lungs. Micro clotting has been observed (in autopsies) in the capillaries of the alveoli. There is evidence that the virus effects the heme of the hemoglobin. There is also evidence that there are two strains of this virus. One which is more like a seasonal flu the other a much more aggressive and deadly attacker with replicates fast and efficiently, yielding viral loads too high for the typical immune system to overcome die to such volume of virons.

What explains the startlingly low blood oxygen that some physicians are reporting in patients who nonetheless are not gasping for breath?

This was explained on MedCram and other medical sources two or three weeks ago. It attacks your hemoglobin cells and attaches to the hemoglobin receptors that normally transport oxygen.

Just a reminder here, that Dr. Luc Montagnier (I'm too lazy to look up the spelling again), winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine as the co-discoverer of the AIDS virus, said today that this is a man-made virus.

It’s just like the common cold or the flu, but unlike any cold or flu that has ever been seen.

Good God!

China’s Gift. One day, we should thank them. Heartily.

Thank you for the information, Lazamataz, I hope you’re doing well out there.

It has the earmarks of an engineered virus, at least the fast prolific replicator does.

heres the bottom line

when its a fresh infection and only in the nose/throat

you need to take supplements and meds that ramp your immune system up, to knock it out before it goes to the lungs

if it gets to the lungs, you have to stop taking the supplements that ramp up the immune system and instead take supplements that are both anti-inflammatory and also at the same time have virus/infection negative characteristics

because if its in the lungs the inflammatory response from the body becomes too much of a threat and its the inflammation that damages organs and kills people. so you take the natural antiinflammatories which also have antiviral properties to dampen the cytokine storm from killing you. Like Allicin, for example, among many others.

Heres a good article about how to fight it. Really any disease that causes a massive inflammatory response in the body.

I read Dr. Montagnier’s statement today. It was rather damning. He certainly has the credentials. The Dems can’t argue “that’s not science” when he speaks.
