De Blasio says NYC needs $7 billion in federal aid or ‘kiss the recovery goodbye’

Mayor Bill de Blasio rolled out a proposed budget Thursday that shaved $6 billion from his initial request and begged the feds for a $7.4 billion injection of aid, linking New York’s recovery from the coronavirus to any national rebound.

“Everyone wants a restart, everyone wants our economy to recover,” de Blasio said. “But, there has to be a really clear understanding, if we can’t provide the basics for our people then you can kiss the recovery goodbye.”

He added: “If we are not strong, if our people are not safe, then this nation cannot recover.”

De Blasio, who is operating under a current budget of $92.8 billion, introduced an $89.3 billion revised budget proposal that shuts down the city’s public pools and axes other beloved summer programs.

The city budget has skyrocketed by more than 26 percent in six years under de Blasio, up from $72 billion in 2014.

Or you could open the economy and not need a multi billion dollar bailout.

That’s $7.4B on illegals and pork that will be used against PDJT’s agenda. This idiot sure knows how to ask for money but not look at the lender.

Imagine what this far leftwing nut will do with the money. I imagine it won’t help small businesses or middle class families.

Well gee De Blasio, who told his state on March 3rd to go to a movie, go to a restaurant, etc etc..that he needs more money for his state, considering New York refuses to give coronavirus patients the drug combo and instead putting them on ventilators because they get 35 grand per ventilation, you would think that is enough money for them

It is obvious that just one of the reasons why NYC is falsely inflating all their numbers is so they can cry for a bigger handout. Another other reason of course is that they intentionally want to destroy the economy and hurt president Trump. And yet another reason is that they just love their newfound power.

The rest of the country already pays a hidden tax via the inflated salaries & expense accounts for all the corporate HQ employees working in the Big Apple.

Move them all to Des Moines and pay prevailing wages and the prices of US goods & services would drop accordingly.

It’s like all the inflated State & Local Taxes these folks have been deducting from their Federal Tax Returns all these years. The rest of the country has been subsidizing the high NY & NYC income & real estate taxes.

Take a hike , deBlasio!

I’d be happy to kiss the recovery goodbye if it gets this sort of malfeasant prick out of power.

De Blasio’s budget calls for spending over $90 billion, or about $11,000 per person in New York City????

Where in the heck does that money come from?

And what the heck is that money spent on?

For comparison, in round numbers, back of the envelope calculation, San Diego spends about $3.3 billion on a population of a bit over 1 million, or about $3000 per person.

LA has a budget of about $11 billion, to spend on a population of a bit less than 4 million, or a bit less than $3000 per person.

There may be good reason for New York local expenses to be so much higher than other places. Any ideas? Pensions? Security for the United Nations?
