You’re wrong.
Sometimes, I too, will say something so that somebody will just tell me that I am wrong.
People will see the President and the GOP leading us back and, they will see who is truly dragging us down.
Trump will not be afraid to step in and adapt his war plan when needed.
For now, he has flipped a switch that will make the ‘resistors’ look ridiculous when they ‘resist’..

I can’t think of any other reason you’d be against opening up more blue but purplish states while embarrassing the hell out of their leftwing governors.

Because IMO its just the wrong time/wrong battle to fight if the sole purpose is to "embarrass the hell out of" leftwing governors. This is an unprecedented public health situation where perhaps, PERHAPS erroring on the side caution is NOT so unreasonable, and its also a situation that should be treated/considered as apolitical.

Now, have some possibly overreached? Yeah sure...but is RIGHT NOW the time to gather in close quarters and to protest the possible overreach? I would say no...stay the hell home and follow the common sense distancing guildelines and expend your energy voting their a$$es out in the fall or in the next election cycle. I personally don't like the optics of this either...it gives the appearance that WE are the lawbreakers here. Like I said...its the wrong battle wrong time. Trumps tweets egging them on follow the same notion.

I am biased in this sense as my career has been in healthcare for the last 20+ years. I also believe (as Rumsfeld would put it) that there are still a lot of unknown unknowns here.

Nope...in fact I participated in some of them. Only difference...um...they weren't taking place in the middle of a global pandemic. There is a difference, you understand that right?

I was heavily involved in the Tea Party at the state level. Organized and participated in many demonstrations. Attended the Big One in DC. Since when is there a correct time to stand up for your rights and liberties?

The pandemic is THE pretext for government to take away your Constitutional rights. What better time to demonstrate against some of these Leftist governors who are imposing unwarranted and unjustified draconian measures? You do understand the causal reasons that precipitated these demonstrations, don't you?

Truth...but has nothing to do with the protests from these hundreds of people.

Correction: Thousands of people. Get real, the Dems have been trying to remove Trump even before he was sworn in. The pandemic has destroyed the crown jewel of Trump's tenure, i.e., a robust, roaring economy. The Dems in Congress and in the statehouses are trying to slow down and impair the economic recovery in hopes that it will help take down Trump. An economy on the rebound will help Trump. The Dems are desperate to prevent it regardless of the misery it causes.

Gross exaggeration of the current situation...sorry...just is.

We will soon know what happens as the various states make their decisions. Trump and the task force have set up the various gates with the criteria. The foot-draggers will be revealed if they fail to go to the next phase despite meeting the criteria. Let's see the public reaction if that happens.

You one of those sovereign citizen folks?

Actually, I had no idea what that meant. After looking it up, it is clear that I am not one of those "folks." I believe in the rule of law and our country, which I served for 36 years as a naval officer and diplomat.

Do you still ascribe to this? If not, you should.

Quite a few conservatives are very much like the Tories of 1770s Boston--trust in procedure, hope for the best, and accept the worst routinely. When all else fails--no matter how many laws are broken--scream "we are a nation of laws, not men!"

But I’m dreaming, Americans are few And far between.

They were needed after Hillary's emails, the bathroom server, Kavanaugh's treatment, russiarussiarussia...etc. too...back BEFORE there was a public health crisis.

Were you dreaming about great American's then too?

You're projecting.

Making abortions essential but criminalizing church attendance, and trying to declare guns nonessential; rushing through "vote-by-mail" and draconian restrictions on gun ownership;; playing games with the death counts to either hurt the economy or grab more of that sweet Federal money; entering into what amounts to compacts with other states...

are all things done by the left in this situation.

Not to mention Pelosi trying to rush through a whole left-wing wish list; denying funds to small businesses which WILL fail then going on vacation and eating $96/gallon ice cream out of a $24,000 refrigerator/freezer on TV...

They're not taking it seriously.

As I posted on another thread this afternoon:

Which brings back the “lower the curve” with respect to severe symptoms.

Rather than wait for enough tests to do general population surveys repeatedly, or (for what might be a variety of reasons) not testing the dead, and inferring/guessing their disease status, why not test all those presumed infected in the ICU or on ventilators?

Then, look for common demographic/and or risk factors among THAT population.

Maybe, if there is some behaviour / disease state / underlying condition shown to have R**2 of 0.7 or better (say), try to isolate THOSE people and let everyone else out...?

Thanks for your service.

I'll just say that we'll have to agree to disagree on timing and agree on intentions and leave it at that.

I can respect that.

And I've spent too much time in health care.

Different experience gives us different perspectives. I'll leave it at that.

Same. I fear he is our last ever and greatest republican president. It’s only downhill from here.

he’s obviously playing rope-a-dope ... saying it’s up to the govs in public, and then pressuring them with these tweets by inciting their voters to revolt ... apparently you don’t understand just how devious our President really is ...

Once one or two states "cracks" and reopens, the pressure will build into a tidal wave. He gave the Governors the "authority" to control reopening to prevent bitching, but he knows human nature.

I wouldn’t say last. If after his terms the DS strings have been cut and no president will have to endure what crap he has went to then we can actually make Presidents Great again.
