A New York woman with coronavirus symptoms died last week after being prescribed a drug cocktail with known cardiac side effects, and family members say she was not tested for COVID-19 or for heart problems before receiving the medication. The familys experience suggests that at least some physicians are prescribing hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin drugs President Donald Trump has promoted to treat the coronavirus outside of hospital settings, underscoring why major medical organizations including the American Heart Association have issued warnings about the drugs potential to trigger heart arrhythmia in some patients.
In early April, Ligia, a 65-year-old Queens resident, was given the drug by her general practitioner after she reported having a bad cough, fever and shortness of breath. Ligias last name is being withheld on the request of her children.
While Ligias symptoms were consistent with those of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, she was never tested for the virus, her brother-in-law, Lee Levitt, told NBC News. Ligia received the drug after speaking by phone with her doctor, Levitt said. She was never evaluated in person and received no heart screening or warning about the potential side effects. It was handed over like a bag of cookies, Levitt said. NBC News made two attempts to reach Ligias doctor for comment. A man who answered the office phone and identified himself as the doctor then said thered been a misunderstanding and offered to take a message. Levitt acknowledged that the family does not know that the drug caused Ligias death. The family has not received a death certificate.

I shouldve put the /s tag on that sentence. This was too quick and smooth to not have been planned. You can leave the /s off my paranoid.
[I went to her Twitter feed, and she’s pumping Gilead’s Remdesivir like it’s the Second Coming of Christ.]
The key difference between the Gilead drug and the quinine derivatives is that the Gilead drug cured 2/3 of the patients at an advanced stage of the disease. Someone I know who got the malaria drug and z-pak while on the ventilator died anyway.
The university recently co-published its preliminary findings on the use of remdesivir, an antiviral drug, with early results indicating that the drug may be beneficial to patients with severe COVID-19 symptoms. The findings were published April 10 in The New England Journal of Medicine.]
perfect
love it!
Here it comes. Another unintended consequence of the lockdown. This would not happen in a non-panic situation, but now the mess is ready for an explosion of slip-and-fall lawyering.
In the Silver Lining Dept.; millions of Americans who were too busy to be political junkies are now getting a month and a half to sit on the couches and get a peek behind that #FakeNews curtain.
Right.
The quacks are waiting till a piston or two seize in the cylinders to add a quart of oil to the engine, and then wonder why the engine dies.
The Chi-Coms have already duplicated Remdesivir, and actually tried to apply for the patents in February or March, but got shut down.
They still stole it.
Months, if I'm not mistaken.
But I like preventative maintenance before a total repair job [badly damaged lungs and organs].
20 bucks for a course of treatment versus $1000 a dose.
"Levitt acknowledged that the family does not know that the drug caused Ligias death. The family has not received a death certificate."
"Ligia was diabetic and had high blood pressure but no known history of heart disease, Levitt said."
So the actual text of the article contradicts the title, and no where in the article does the family specifically blame HQL for her death. The article also states conditions, her age, high blood pressure and diabetes, which are major issues for Covid-19, regardless of what medication is taken.
Then it goes on about the President, and that doctors are prescribing it without "guidance" (what medication guidance is there for Covid-19 other than pray you don't get on a ventilator?), brings up the risks that the doctors should know, like don't give medication that have side effects that makes a patients conditions worse.

Side effects:
"If you have diabetes, be sure to check your blood sugars regularly. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication."
Any competent doctor should have checked the side risks of a medication for each patient to make sure there are not side effects or risks.
Something is not right here.
My father was fried to death by chemotherapy. Probably lose three months of cancer based living. But NBC News has an agenda...

Thank you.

I think we have our answer.
WNot diagnosed for the illness
No autopsy to prove she had the illness
No autopsy to prove Hydroxychloquine killed her
But thats what killed her.
Next time dont take it if its marked, “For Aquariums Only!”
Correct. The article is total garbage. As you said, it is nothing but a hit piece.
... and that doctors are prescribing it without "guidance" (what medication guidance is there for Covid-19 other than pray you don't get on a ventilator?), ...
That is some morbidly hilarious propaganda from the author. Guidance for treating a disease that no one knew existed four or five months ago.
NBC and authors like this are a cancer on humanity.
There is no hell, in this life or the next, severe enough for these people.
:)
too many people here are cheerleaders for deepstate, hard to tell anymore if its sarc, you were subtle :)
Yes, I believe that HCQ doesn't much help if you get past a certain point, which is why I'm in favor of dosing upon presentation with symptoms.
Not a fan of damaged organs - hope the Remdesivir can alleviate some of that.
Whatever the cost though, its cheaper than shutting the economy down.
A lot of people don't understand that playing "chicken" with the economy is a VERY dangerous game.
Most of our "esteemed" legislators [the chicken players] are lawyers, not economists, financial people or businessmen.
And their GibsMeDat voters are even worse than creeps like WuhanNan & MadMax.
They always have an agenda if they work for the MSM.
