[I went to her Twitter feed, and she’s pumping Gilead’s Remdesivir like it’s the Second Coming of Christ.]

Futures up a few % because of news that a Gilead clinical trial panned out. At this stage, if the drug works well, I’d have no problem giving $20b tax-free to Gilead to hand over the rights to this drug to all companies that want to make a generic version. It’s a pittance compared to the $trillions of damage sustained through month-long shutdowns.

The key difference between the Gilead drug and the quinine derivatives is that the Gilead drug cured 2/3 of the patients at an advanced stage of the disease. Someone I know who got the malaria drug and z-pak while on the ventilator died anyway.

[Nearly two-thirds of severely ill patients hospitalized with COVID-19 are responding well to a new drug, according to the early findings of a clinical trial that UC Davis Health participated in.

The university recently co-published its preliminary findings on the use of remdesivir, an antiviral drug, with early results indicating that the drug may be beneficial to patients with severe COVID-19 symptoms. The findings were published April 10 in The New England Journal of Medicine.]

Right.

The quacks are waiting till a piston or two seize in the cylinders to add a quart of oil to the engine, and then wonder why the engine dies.

The Chi-Coms have already duplicated Remdesivir, and actually tried to apply for the patents in February or March, but got shut down.

They still stole it.

Clinical trials take longer than this.

Months, if I'm not mistaken.

BTW - I'm NOT trash-talking Remdesivir - good on it if it helps.

But I like preventative maintenance before a total repair job [badly damaged lungs and organs].

20 bucks for a course of treatment versus $1000 a dose.
