U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested negative for the coronavirus after leaving the hospital where he underwent COVID-19 treatment, his spokesman said Monday.
Spokesman James Slack said the prime minister is continuing to recover after being discharged from St. Thomas Hospital in London Sunday, The Associated Press reported. He now is at Chequers, the prime ministers country residence, and is not immediately returning to work.
Slack denied that the government had downplayed how sick Johnson was, according to the AP. Over the weekend, Johnson also spoke with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who has been deputizing for Johnson during his illness, Slack said.
The prime minister was diagnosed with COVID-19 last month and was admitted to the hospital after his symptoms worsened. Johnson was then treated in the intensive care unit for three nights before moving back to a regular hospital room.

Was the original Covid-19 test accurate?
Are Covid-19 tests reliable?
When you don’t have it anymore the test comes out negative.
Shocking, I know.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Whatever he had damn near killed him.
Are Covid-19 tests reliable?
He sure got a lot of prayers....And he’ll never forget the Easter of 2020...none of us will.
I would love to read his chart (but no, I don’t believe it is or should be public information).
He may be completely accurate that the “NHS saved his life”, but if Gilead had something to do with it, it would be interesting to know.
I believe “false negative” test results can occur in up to three out of ten cases.
Was the PM treated with any drugs?
What medications were used?
Last week he’s at death’s door, this week he’s negative.
Assuming all we have heard is true regarding his case, this is the strangest virus ever in terms of affecting people differently.
The standard has been to get two negative test results 24 hours apart before being cleared. I’d assume they will be doing at least that.
IIRC Trump announced at one of the press conferences that he was sending four ‘very powerful men’ over to assist.
It was right after Johnson was admitted to the ICU.
BTW, would Trump ever not send ‘very powerful’ people?
If he had covid- a test should show he has antibodies- If it’s the swab test to see if he’s currently sick from covid only, then it will show negative- which test did he get?
The Brits declined Trump’s offer.
Hadn’t heard. Thanks.
The reports we get on every aspect of COVID-19 are all over the map.
The main question, that still remains unanswered, is did he get hydroxychloroquine?
Happy for you, Boris. Now please comb your hair.
I’ll bet he got the anti-malarial treatment.
If it was covid-19, one of the very few known therapies to drive down his viral load that quickly would have been HCQ+AZ
