Governor Eric Holcomb today issued the following directive during his daily press conference:

“To continue safely serving their communities, faith institutions are directed as follows:

Church buildings and other physical locations for worship should be closed.

Livestream or other virtual services are best.

The minimum number of necessary personnel should be used at all times for any services.

Staff and volunteers who are not speaking should wear masks.

Drive-in services may be conducted only under these conditions: -Attendees must be inside vehicles at all times. -Attendees should not interact physically with clergy, staff or participants in other vehicles. -Vehicles should contain only members of a single household. Do not bring your neighbors or others outside of your household. -Cars must be spaced the equivalent of every other parking spot or approximately 9 feet apart. -No one may exit a vehicle at any time. -Portable bathrooms are not allowed on the premises and no church facilities may be used by attendees. -It is preferred that no communion be distributed. -In instances when communion is distributed, only prepackaged communion may be used and must be prepared and distributed in a manner that meets food safety standards.

The following individuals who are vulnerable and at higher risk for illness should not attend:

-Persons who are 65 years and older. -Those who have severe underlying medical conditions, like heart or lung disease or diabetes. -Individuals who are sick.”

It’s interesting the population the authorities spend the most time on establishing guidelines for. Of course, maybe it’s just this group is the most contrary. They are descendants of the same types who fought to establish this nation. Maybe that’s it.

It’s interesting the population the authorities spend the most time on establishing guidelines for.

Maybe because they're about the only places where large crowds could congregate in close quarters that haven't been shut down completely?

Sorry...Separation of Church and State. The government can’t tell them how to run their religion in any way, shape or form.

‘The government can’t tell them how to run their religion in any way, shape or form.’

technically, the government is saying nothing about how you run your religion; it is saying you can’t use a brick and mortar building, which as everybody is fond of saying is not really the church...the people are the church...

and really, I think we’ve all been treated to the spectacle that when any governmental body wants something, it will get it

‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...’

Gov Holcombe is not a member of Congress...

We the people must announce Constitution of the United States of America guidelines, which are hard law, to our wannabe dictator overlords.

Strong and hard, with great clarity.

The physical gathering of believers to receive the body and blood of Christ in His Supper is not a matter for any earthly authority to deny or prescribe. While we pray for earthly authorities, and obey them in their lawful exercise, there does come a point where we must obey God rather than men. It appears we are at that threshold.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...’Gov Holcombe is not a member of Congress...”

Neither is someone praying or leading prayer in a school or public building.

Short of major sporting events and movie theatres, Church is the one place large numbers of people congregate closely.

Not only that, but in many instances they remain silent while one man, the pastor, expounds upon the biblical text(s) for several minutes or more.

I do not think the Indiana Governor has it out for Christians. He is trying to curb the spread of a particularly stealthy and potent illness, which is his prerogative.

The rub comes in having to prescribe activity that impinges upon matters of faith and piety, where consciences are sorely tested.

And all the governors should be investigated when this cools off for prior medical capacity decisions.

When you consider the federal lawsuits convicted felons have over minor violations of civil rights this is amazing.

These Governors either feel very protected by liberal judges or have no clue how this could end.
