If the response is primarily the responsibility of the governors then how can Trump talk about reopening the country? Isn’t that up to the governors too?

And what about bad decisions by governors...like Cuomo denying the malaria cocktail to sick New Yorkers by their personal physicians....unless they go to a hospital. And them I’m not sure they’re getting the meds if they want them.

One of the least desirable, most contemptible traits of any person in a leadership role is the inability to couple their powers and authority with their duties and responsibilities.

This crisis has brought out the very worst in a lot of governors and put this trait on display, front and center. They revel in their issuance of executive orders, quarantines, curfews, etc., but take no responsibility for any of their failures, inaction and mismanagement of situations and events.

Having been an Army officer, I have seen the rare bad apple that just wants to be an officer in order to wear rank and issue orders, paying little heed to their duty to care for, motivate, inspire and lead their soldiers. In my day, such officers were there, but were generally readily identified and shunned and they were generally in the minority. It seems those personality types have gravitated toward politics where it is far easier to lie their way out of accountability.

You sure got a lot to say, considering how confused you are. She ain’t been governor for quite some time. Kinda makes me blow off the rest of what you’re saying.

She is correct. The governors shut down their states.

The governors do have authority over their own states,
NOT ONE of them would have survived if the Federal
Government hadn't backed them right now.

She's dead wrong.

The question is, what possessed her to open her big fat
mouth and insert her foot.

The feds are helping to locate and allocate equipment.
The president's task force has been coordinating with
the governors, mayors, as well as corporations, businesses,
other nations, Congress...

Nah, Haley wouldn't want his help. Heck, the governors
are in charge.

LMAO

Someone should tell Trump, Pence, and everyone else
doing the best they can on almost no sleep, governors
don't need them.

“Yep, she’s right and has no money at all ...”

Should states then have a storehouse of money and equipment to handle their disease problems?

The Michigan Governor keeps begging for Feds to come up with a national plan, she is not up to the job and wants someone to do her job.

States should have emergency supplies.

They should have respirators and other things.

California had two state of the art field hospitals, and
let them go when they were having a financial problem.

I don’t think the fed should be on the hook for everything.

States should do their part.

It’s not so much that I disagree that governors are the
hands on people in each state, but frankly it pissed me
off to have her make comments like governors have it all
in hand, and Trump isn’t needed.

She is correct. Doing things from the federal level means a “one size fits all” approach. The governors are all facing different situations and they are best positioned to ask for the required resources from the feds as necessary.

... As national martial law has not been imposed, it is up to the governors of each state to respond to the virus as best they see fit, with the support of the Federal government.
************
Hold it right there. Since there is no Constitutional basis for martial law, the decision is ALWAYS up to the governors, except, perhaps, where interstate commerce is involved.

Well said, and I’ve said it before; any governor complaining to the federal government that they don’t have supplies for their state is only advertising that they can’t do their jobs. I can’t believe we’re even having this discussion. It is blatantly obvious to me.
