One of the least desirable, most contemptible traits of any person in a leadership role is the inability to couple their powers and authority with their duties and responsibilities.

This crisis has brought out the very worst in a lot of governors and put this trait on display, front and center. They revel in their issuance of executive orders, quarantines, curfews, etc., but take no responsibility for any of their failures, inaction and mismanagement of situations and events.

Having been an Army officer, I have seen the rare bad apple that just wants to be an officer in order to wear rank and issue orders, paying little heed to their duty to care for, motivate, inspire and lead their soldiers. In my day, such officers were there, but were generally readily identified and shunned and they were generally in the minority. It seems those personality types have gravitated toward politics where it is far easier to lie their way out of accountability.

Well said, and I’ve said it before; any governor complaining to the federal government that they don’t have supplies for their state is only advertising that they can’t do their jobs. I can’t believe we’re even having this discussion. It is blatantly obvious to me.
