I am not trying to be an asshole, truly even thought I am occasionally more emotional than I want to be. Give my colleague a break though, insinuating alcoholism is beneath you...
Ok that being said, I hear what you are saying and it may prove true at the bench level. What my problem is that getting zinc into a critically ill patient presents a hell of a routine problem. TPN increases the respiratory quotient and zinc is a trace metal that comes in TPN. If the patient has a dobhoff getting zinc through what amounts to 3 feet of tubing with a tiny little radius — well it clogs things up. I am unaware of IV zinc preparations but will check it out.
Plaquenil may be the best at quelling the autoimmune response. It is not being used as a direct antiviral. I believe that perhaps the good thing to come out of this will be a golden age of virology and treatment.
All the best to you
Thanks.
I have a friend who assisted the covid advisory council. Won’t go into his identity. There is some concern that this virus will continue to mutate and pose a problem every year, just like the flu. So, this may be a mess for many years. Heard some other stuff that is a bit on the disturbing side.
Sublingual zinc to the tune of at least 22mg per day will quickly increase available ions for quick results. As you so well know, it is the immune system which kills off the virus.
Be of good cheer and 'don't let the eosinaphils getcha.'
On the advice of a good Doctor, I offer my sincere apology to you for the insinuation of an alcohol problem. That was bad form, not the least of which is I only know you via your posting history. Stay well, live long and prosper.
Previously it was on medium, but they tried to memory-hole it. This is from the wayback machine. It may be good to have on the record in the coming months.
So welcome to my world. I checked the formulary that is available to me — no SL Zinc. I would probably add it had I a routing that I could use as I consider it Class 2b recommendation — possibly helpful, not harmful.
The eosinophils are real bastards...
First time I’ve seen it.
thanks for the post very informative. explains the disease is like malaria and a drug used to treat and prevent malaria is a workable pharmaceutical (drug).
Read later.
‘don’t let the eosinaphils getcha.’
You mean the granulocytes that develop during hematopoiesis?
“modulates the autoimmune reaction”
Is that at all similar to how prednisone functions?
Not really
Prednisone is an immunosuppressant, its also a corticosteroid so it functions as a hormone and regulates other things.
Plaquenil is specific for autoimmune issues...So same area code, but not the same city
EVALI = COVID-19
Fascinating discussion
First time I have seen this article and it’s extremely well written and researched.
Okay, thanks. My nephro had told me that one reason I was given prednisone was for its immunosuppressant property, which suprised me. I had thought it was entirely to suppress inflamation. But then maybe the two are intertwined. Plaquenil’s action sounded somewhat similar to my ear.
