“Then again the writer is probably a grad of a journalism school and has made English a second language!”

No I think he chose the word carefully and intentionally as a put down for Trump.

You’re right that “declined” would be a more accurate description of what happened.

That being said, I suspect that Boris will get top notch care.>>>>>>>>>>>>

Unless deep state plutocrat physicians take the opportunity to rid themselves of a populist politician. this would be done by refusing to innovate on Boris’s therapy, to save hs life.No one could be blamed then, you see. If they follow all of their plutocrat socialized medicine rules, Boris will die.

Boris Johnsons life is very much in danger IMHO.

Thise who exercise power are often caught in the web of adversarial intrigue in the UK, unless protected by security and a single dedicated, innovative family physician.

Maybe they will do a antibody plasma therapy. Surely that will work.

“is receiving the best possible care from the National Health Service”

That’s the worrying part.

"We're confident the prime minister is receiving the best possible care from the National Health Service," he said. "Any treatment he receives is a matter for his doctors."

The best possible care, or the best care the NHS can possibly provide?

By the way, NHS worship has become the established religion in the UK, even among purported conservatives.

I knew it!! I told my husband yesterday that the U.K. were going to decline trump’s wonderful act of kindness!! Man, the globalist cabal are evillllll! If Obama or that wretched witch would’ve offered their best doctors to help I bet you in a heartbeat the ass holes would’ve rolled the red carpet!! Ugh, china MUST BE DESTROYED before it takes over the world! Unfortunately china is the power house the Bible mentions in the book of revelations! God help us because they will be a dominant force to be dealt with and I don’t think the American spirit is there anymore! World War II was a completely different animal to what we’re facing now. The enemy has infiltrated every aspect of our major establishments here in the US! We let our guard down, our government let us down and now we are faced with this cruel evil communist country that as of now practically has a boot on our necks!

Not everyone over there. I have a good friend who lives in Wales and she said NHS is Crap!

He probably IS receiveing the best possible care but it's doubtful that Tom, Dick or Mohammad who walk in off the street are.

That distinction is now academic, since all the 8000 private hospital beds in the UK, with staff, have been integrated with the NHS for the duration of the crisis. There’s nothing particularly unusual about this - the NHS routinely hires private hospital beds when there’s excess demand, and conversely private healthcare providers routinely hire NHS facilities for particular procedures when they’re not available in a private hospital. And of course most senior hospital doctors work both for the NHS and in private practice.

Donald Trump likes to run his mouth in a stream of consciousness. This behavior endears him to his supporters who are tired of political spin and obfuscation from professional politicians, including most Republicans. Unfortunately, he sometimes engages his mouth before fully considering the ramifications and the potential for damage to himself.

The public announcement of the offer for support did nothing for Trump or Johnson. Once the offer became public, it had to be rejected. Had American help been accepted it would have been a public declaration American medical knowledge and care is superior to British NHS public healthcare. No government with a public healthcare system can admit publicly its care is deficient.

I watched the news conference and cringed when Trump announced he had offered American expertise to Johnson’s doctors. President Trump enjoys bragging about American exceptionalism and as a good leader he should from time to time. However, this is a situation where a human life is potentially in the balance and private diplomacy is needed for the political reasons indicated above. Sometimes national leaders need to be subtly diplomatic and unfortunately subtle diplomacy is not a core competence President Trump demonstrates. Hopefully Johnson will not die because advice and knowledge which could have been communicated privately and confidentially cannot now be received.

I did. In surgery within 2 weeks of being diagnosed with bowel cancer. Met my surgeon twice before the op, given a direct phone number for the colorectal nurse assigned to my case in case I needed to ask any questions. Surgeon even called my wife as soon as I was out of the theatre and he visited me when I was in recovery to see how I was. Brilliant post-op support and care via my family doctor, which is ongoing almost years later.

I have no complaints about the NHS.

Shows how socialized medicine has mesmerized the UK. Johnson probably feels that he can’t accept help from outside the socialist medical collective without paying a political price.

What could Trump do that the UK couldn’t? NHS or not, Boris is a VIP, getting the best treatment.

Doesn't sound like he's getting hydroxychloroquine. Use of hydroxyCQ is prohibited in UK.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/chloroquine-and-hydroxychloroquine-not-licensed-for-coronavirus-covid-19-treatment

Clinical trials are ongoing to test chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine as an agent in the treatment of COVID-19 or to prevent COVID-19 infection. These clinical trials are still not completed, so no conclusions have been reached on the safety and effectiveness of this medicine to treat or prevent COVID-19.

Until we have clear, definitive evidence that these treatments are safe and effective for the treatment of COVID-19, they should only be used for this purpose within a clinical trial.

Yep, they seem officially worship the NHS. ‘Stay at Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives’ is now a motto displayed on all Wuhan-China virus notices. Politically, Boris Johnson has to be shown trusting the NHS with his care.

[That being said, I suspect that Boris will get top notch care. Britain still has private healthcare (you can pay for private insurance, but it is on top of the high taxes you are already paying for everybody else’s healthcare) and get good treatment.]

One Freeper said that the exception to the private sector’s excellent care was in realm of new infectious diseases. Which makes sense. Why would you, as a profit-making institution, want to empty out your wards for bug-ridden patients because they might pass their incurable (given its novelty) disease on to people there for cancer therapy, heart-related surgery or any number of routine procedures that are nonetheless on a ticking clock?

NHS in charge. He’s Dead Meat.

The issue of care quality is less important than who makes the decision about the quality: (1) BoJo; or (2) an NHS bureaucrat who could possibly hate him and be less competent to boot.
