Tesla Ventilators made with Tesla car parts — see video
Dyson vacuums made one out of vacuum cleaner parts 3 weeks ago
Looks overly complex, overly expensive.
But they are not approved and how will they be taxed under the ACA law that taxes medical devices?
Will it be an option in the 2021 model?
Will it spontaneously burst into flames?....................
“Looks overly complex, overly expensive.”
Your expertise?
Caution:
1. Do NOT use Ludicrous Mode.
2. Do NOT use Auto-Drive Mode.

FAKE NEWS
I’m sure glad they protected us viewers from getting their breath sickness disease
I always think its amazing to watch these guys work. Between all of the engineers working on this, I would not be surprised to see them come up with a better vent in the end.
I think I could make a crude one with variable speed drill, bellows, and a relief valve
Have you ever worked in product development?
The one spread out on the bench is an early proof of concept model made from standard, off the shelf parts.
That one worked, so they built the prototype in the later part of the video. Much more polished, and designed for ease of assembly.
I think they look great. They could be producing the second one in volume in 2 weeks.
The real problem is that the need for ventilators appears to be diminishing. Even Cuomo wasn't whining about needing more today.
My prediction is that no US patient will die because a ventillator was not available.
Do NOT throw a steel ball at it.
Does it explode at the end?
... they have to be recharged every 10,000 breaths.
At the end of the video it is all packaged. Normal sized ventilator. That rube goldberg thing is laid out like that for ease of working on the concept and making the system work. Tesla is going to beat GM/Ford/Etc ass in this. What I saw is extremely scalable for manufacturing a boat load of these machines. The only not off their shelf thing I saw was the manifold and that lends itself to rapid 3d metal printing. (There are printers that can do 100’s of inches an hour) A bank of a few quarter mil printers could literally do thousands of manifolds a day. Given that most everything I saw was either their stuff off the shelf and other off the shelf stuff Tesla has a supply chain in place. To make 50K or even more ventilators by the end of April is possible.
ACME recently had a video with their Chief Engineer Mr Kai Otey hard st at work.
