The CDC Doctors Screwed Up Bigly! USNS Comfort in NY Harbor Sits Idle With 3 Patients -- USNS Mercy in LA has Only 15 Patients

The Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort docked in in New York City on Monday, March 30, 2020. The ship was expected to bolster a besieged New York City health care system by treating non-coronavirus patients while hospitals treat people with COVID-19.

But after three days in the harbor only three patients have been transferred to the hospital ship.

The ship has 1,000 beds.

Another Navy hospital ship, the U.S. Naval Ship Mercy, docked in Los Angeles, has had a total of 15 patients, officials said.

You can thank the CDC officials and doctors for pushing fake models on the American public and Trump administration!

The CDC used the IMHE model to base their numbers on. The model was way off in its predictions.

The IMHE study predicted over 121,000 Americans would be hospitalized by Wednesday over the Coronavirus. The actual number was 31,142.

In New York, the IMHE model predicted that as of yesterday, 50,962 people would have been hospitalized due to the Coronavirus.
The actual number was 18,368.

And in LA the US Mercy staff is working with 15 patients.

Those ships may be a symbol of the over reaction in our entire country.

Our private health care is way better than a lot of other countries.

It is a bit complicated getting patients on them.

They only take non Corona patients - and the Docs have to be sure they don’t have it before the Docs let them on.

Once the virus gets wild on the ship .......

I think the Navy may need those ships right now for their own personnel.

They have basically cancelled all non-essential surgeries anyway.

It looks like accidents and emergency stuff then. People are locked down so those rates will go down too.

I’d hate see the fan when Trump heard about this cluster-blank.

Way too early to say if this was a bad decision or not - just about anyone who can put off any non-emergency care is. Who is going to willingly goto the hospital to take care of routine problems when doing so may put them at risk. I know I have cancelled all of my routine health appointments. Give it time, the boat may fill up, it may not - but it was already sitting *someplace* fully staffed, not doing much of anything, you might as well put it where it is more likely to be needed, no?

Its not like they pulled it out of an active battlefield helping wounded soldiers and were told to sit in NYC harbour instead

Ugh. So much misinformation here. As the Imperial College guy explained, the model wasn’t off. The updated numbers were DUE TO THE MEASURES BEING TAKEN. If the suggested measures weren’t taken, then the original numbers would apply.

Geez. Irresponsible sites like GP are giving people a false sense of security.

The ship was not deployed with the intent of treating virus patients but for handling regular patients to relieve the load on hospitals treating the virus.

a couple of days ago i had a premonition of this and that trump was neutralizing cuomo by building all the hospitals that cuomo asked for just to show what a putz he is... also maybe everyone is taking HCQ... anyways better to have beds in advance than not enough later on if needed...

If the majority of the patients in NY hospitals are Coronavirus, than this makes sense..perhaps this number of patients that DONT have coronavirus is the accurate number, heart attack, strokes, car accidents, etc..obviously not too many car accidents since people are not on the road, so what’s the problem..I say the ship should eventually be used to treat coronavirus patients

Trump has made army hospitals and VA hospitals available to NY too. They have 5 hospitals including Comfort. Comfort can’t handle infectious diseases because it takes too many people to run the ship. If they get sick its a real issue. They work and sleep in close quarters. But the Army hospitals can handle more. And the VA staff can be allowed to work in regular hospitals to spell normal medical staff who catch the virus. More patients will get treated on Comfort with time. But its not an ideal fit for this purpose. Its more as a back up. For example if there was a shooting, Comfort would be indispensable.
