Way too early to say if this was a bad decision or not - just about anyone who can put off any non-emergency care is. Who is going to willingly goto the hospital to take care of routine problems when doing so may put them at risk. I know I have cancelled all of my routine health appointments. Give it time, the boat may fill up, it may not - but it was already sitting *someplace* fully staffed, not doing much of anything, you might as well put it where it is more likely to be needed, no?

Its not like they pulled it out of an active battlefield helping wounded soldiers and were told to sit in NYC harbour instead

At the very least it was good training for mobilization.
