Correct. GP is pushing fake news this time. The ships are doing exactly what was intended and they will gradually take some of the regular load off the hospitals.
The ships are for overflow. It may be that they’re not needed, more likely that they’re not needed yet. Anyone who is drawing any conclusions after three days has already decided not to wait for results.

This sounds like a logistics and bureaucracy problem if it’s a problem at all. If the NYC hospital system isn’t being overwhelmed by the pandemic, the ship isn’t actually needed, and of course in a cynical political world, if there’s a way to make this look bad for Trump, it will get done.
It takes a lot of coordination to move possibly large numbers of already contained and highly contagious sick people from inside one hospital to inside a boat across town. How do you route, while handling emergent cases on the fly, ambulance traffic that’s already integrated with existing hospitals to make the determination that patient A goes to the boat, but patient B goes to the hospital? Do the local hospitals have the same intake procedures as the military hospital ship?

Yes. Compared to the massive amount of money that has been lost in the past hlaf month this is nothing. Week in, if the sickness rate is still low, they need to go back.

And all elective surgery has been cancelled and with many people hunkered down at home the number of accidents (auto and otherwise) is down and hence the emergency rooms are seeing less non-covid cases.
I'm thinking they are worried about New Yorkers and Californians getting bored during to lockdown and then getting weird. I'm betting that half the treatments will be extractions. :-)
One of my Facebook friends (just had played games together back in the day) who did not have any obvious underlying health conditions passed away this morning from this virus. I did not know him well but I know he is a real person with a wife and kids. He was on Long Island.

Hell, the doctors in our local have quit taking on ‘new’ patients! My PCP left/retired suddenly and he was with a large hospital group - largest in the state...well none of the other PCPs are taking on any ‘new’ patients ‘suddenly!
Help I wouldn’t we new...been in their system 15 years with records to prove it but tough sh*t! And I am “older”!!
This was intentional, I hope and think the reaction is being over done - but morn all the sorrow and understand some measures had to be taken - the economic toll and TRUMPs downfall were the two targets of the bio attack. And if we let this go afterwards like we have let it go on spygate and the coup attempt we will have deserved the socialism take ove vote coming in NOV 202!

There have to be appendix patients, heart patients, gall bladder patients, YET these ships are empty this is the biggest farce I have EVER seen in my life!! Ca. Has under 10,000 cases 204 fatalities 40 million population!! Washington state 7,000 cases 200 fatalities!, I am telling you this has become the biggest farce on this country EVER!!!

I heard some NYC MD say that there is still plenty of capacity in most NYC hospitals. It’s the ones in certain neighborhoods that are overwhelmed.

This virus become vicious if you have diabetes OR pre diabetes with all of the overweight people in the areas this seems to be attacking hard!!
