Todd McMurtry Challenges Thomas Massie in Kentucky By Elise Cooper
Todd McMurtry is running in Kentucky's Fourth Congressional District Republican primary against Thomas Massie, the essence of the swamp. Todd has been a practicing attorney for twenty-eight years. Last year he was voted one of the top fifty attorneys out of a pool of 20,000 by licensed members of the bar.
People might know him from one of his most recent cases: defending Nick Sandmann, the Covington Catholic High School student, against CNN. The initial video released made it appear that the students had triggered the incident, which led to a deluge of media criticism unleashed on the students. A longer video of the incident put the event into perspective and showed that the students had done nothing wrong.

I will say one thing for Massie, he came up with the following bit of political analysis that I believe rings true:
“I went to Iowa twice and came back with [Ron Paul]. I was with him at every event for the last three days in Iowa,” Massie said. “From what I observed, not just in Iowa but also in Kentucky, up close with individuals, was that the people that voted for me in Kentucky, and the people who had voted for Rand Paul in Iowa several years before, were now voting for Trump. In fact, the people that voted for Rand in a primary in Kentucky were preferring Trump.
“All this time,” Massie explained, “I thought they were voting for libertarian Republicans. But after some soul searching I realized when they voted for Rand and Ron and me in these primaries, they weren’t voting for libertarian ideas — they were voting for the craziest son of a bitch in the race. And Donald Trump won best in class, as we had up until he came along.
On no no no...Massie is a great patriot! Just ask his FReeper defenders (who thankfully don’t have a vote in his district).
A petty rant with no facts or reasons for why you think he’s not a good choice is pretty worthless and infantile.

If I lived in that district I’d be supporting Massie. The last thing Congress needs is another manipulative lawyer who has scrubbed his own anti-Trump bias from he internet so he can run as a Trump ally today.

Massie is the real deal. He walks the talk,
He’s posted videos cakked “The Swamp” where he explains the House leadership has a price list to be paid for committe assignments, How the whip threatens for votes, Im not smart enough to link it. Everyone should see it. Point is, he’s fearless and principled. We need 435 Massies.
Im friends with McMurtry, he’s a stuffed shirt all hat no cattle whimp.
Trump wants Massie defeated and will take a vested interest in this race, I’m sure.
Besides DJT, I’m fine with replacing all incumbents on a regular basis including meathead Massie. One less Ron Paul acolyte in Congress is a net positive.
Massie has been one of Trump’s strongest defenders in Washington. Dumping him because he casts inconsequential votes on inconsequential House bills is probably the dumbest thing the GOP can possibly do.
I voted for Trump because he’s NOT a Republican. Replacing a guy like Massie because he doesn’t toe the party line will be a big step toward the end of the Trump agenda — because it will solidify Trump’s place as just one more establishment GOP clown.
He’s got a point. We have needed people NOT of the norm to change corrupt paradigms we had gotten used to in our lives. Promises had always been made and we were used to them always being broken for one “reason” or another, leaving us in despair.
We have need Trump to take the lead and actually “do.”
We had forgotten what “do” could really mean.
In “Trump Talk,” that would be “Promises Made, Promises Kept,” and a laundry list of those got done, regardless of the Democrats, Republicans, MSM, and Deep State relentlessly attacking.
I’m not a Republican so this is an exercise in theory for me as I can’t vote in a primary, but I like what I read about Massie’s opponent, and nothing about him. So, let’s hear it for the challengers!!

Massie's voting percentage is the third lowest among current Republican members of Congress in line with President Trump. In 2019, Massie was the only Republican among 17 members of Congress who voted against a House resolution opposing efforts to boycott Israel regarding the BDS movement. He voted against Holocaust education; cast the only "no" vote against a measure to make Israel a strategic partner of the U.S.; voted "present" on the terrible Obama Iran nuclear deal, the only Republican in either chamber of Congress not to oppose the deal; and cast the only "no" vote on renewing sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.
Conversations have context.
That is an excellent anecdote.
But Massie votes against POTUS most of the time.
His record is the third most anti Trump in the house.
The things he voted against drop my jaw. Many are mentioned in the article and his entire voting record is listed on the 538 site. Any Trump support he professes is opportunist.
Massie is a self interested beltway theater performer. Another Justin Amash in the making.

When asked about them, he responded, “Like many Kentuckians, I was worried Trump wouldn’t govern as a conservative. I did publicly endorse him before the 2016 election, however. And boy, I now realize how wrong I was to question candidate Trump. As president, his policies have been tremendous for the country. Judges, tax cuts, border wall, modernizing military, etc. The economy was booming before coronavirus. I thank God every day that President Trump is there instead of Hillary Clinton.” Massie also said some nasty statements, such as that “[w]ith Trump as their likely nominee, many Republicans will need counseling. These folks should start enrolling today.”
I think so too. I think that Trump’s “different-ness” as a candidate and person compared to the bland mush of politicians we’ve been given most of my life is a big deal. And he is a little bit crazy, but he does shake things up. A lot.
1. House bills on matters that are a meaningless waste of time.
2. House bills on matters that are unconstitutional and have no place in Congress in the first place.
