I am surprised that in this national emergency, we have not been able to ramp up and roll easily accessible testing. It feels like testing and medication development is moving so incredibly slowly, with all our technological and scientific capabilities.

Fauci has to have his views validated or he loses face in the medical world. Even if hydroxychlorinique is effective, he will bury it in trials and studies until well in the future as it would undermine his pronouncements.
The answer is simple. The hospitals can’t bill a patient if he/she is put aboard a ship. They should be transferring patients to open up beds for what is coming. Doing that would cost the hospital income.
I don’t even think that the ship usage is based on military readiness.
It is simple capacity, given that it would be insane to mix COVID/non-COVID in the same hospital.
The Comfort adds little to New York’s capacity, so what it adds is Non-COVID. That’s what makes the biggest difference.
Maybe the NY hospitals mainly wanted to unload their unprofitable elderly Medicare, Medicaid, and uninsured patients, and are unhappy that the Navy ships are specifically NOT taking virus infected patients.
I also think illegal alien patients would be unwilling to be transferred to a federal facility which specifically does NOT fall under deBlasio's "sanctuary city" rules...

Freepers and others are telling us about California hospital parking lots being basically empty and about some hospitals laying off people in California with zero same day procedures/surgeries cancelled due to this bs.
This is putting a lot of our hospitals into dangerous financial footings.

I’m listening to Jeff Kuhner’s show out of Boston. The Washington Post has a front page article which states that scientific experts are wondering where these dire numbers have come from because they don’t add up. They appear to be blaming these models on Trump, of course.
