Biotech company Gilead Sciences is expanding access to its antiviral drug remdesivir as an experimental coronavirus treatment.
In an open letter sent out Saturday, Gilead CEO Daniel ODay said the company is carefully ramping up its efforts to make remdesivir available to coronavirus patients. The antiviral has previously been used to treat Ebola patients.
Remdesivir, which is awaiting regulatory approval as a coronavirus treatment, is being used in a number of clinical trials across the globe. In a project designed by regulators, it has also been made available, on an individual basis, to some severely ill patients who cannot participate in clinical trials.

I dunno nearly enough.
Are there cases where this would work while the anti malaria drug that I can’t spell doesn’t?
If not, they should wave goodbye to the ship cause it sailed.
Great some healthy competition between drug companies !!! Lets get some meds to the doctors and lick this virus
Dr arnold weg is fighting for his life in Ny. He couldnt get in the gilead trial. His son..a Dr..who could write a script..was pleading for help.
No word on if they tried the miracle drug.
Someone here knows or heard of two docs in Ny that were sick and tried it and didnt work. One got better with gilead..the other still sick.
When you take the drug during disease progression may be relevant
In NYC if you develop fever and cough, a presumptive diagnosis of CIVID-19 is being made. Most physicians are proscribing hydroxychloroquine and Zithromax even before there is shortness of breath. This regimen seems to be effective and is resulting in less hospital admissions. Most people who go into respiratory failure and require a respirator do not survive. These pontificating governors would do well to ensure that the supply of these drugs for outpatient treatment is adequate rather than clamoring for more respirators, hospital beds and money.
However not until there is an effective and safe vaccine, the crisis and the fear will remain.
Yeah but I think the drug I can’t spell helped people out even at the bitter end.
For 20 bucks a month...that’s a winner.
I HOPE failed tests aren’t being hidden.
Because this anti malarial seems to be AWESOME.
We may have differed in our thoughts on how many lives this would cost etc, but I stayed in because I knew even though I would survive, I may take a ventilator and strained resources from an older or sick person.
And they are not expendable.
Mommy is 87 and 2 other aunts are in their 80s.
It was worth 3 weeks home to save them and others.
Mid April..it’s time to start getting back to normal, even if in steps.
I’m so happy about that cheap drug.
That french guy did hide some people who died but that was his smaller test.
If they can get some drugs that work..and get PPE equipment to hospitals..and ventilators..they can let the herd loose
Cases will spike but they dont end up on a vent for two weeks etc
Thank you Gilead....Now don’t rape us with the pricing.
I don’t like to see people suffer but LIVING is much more important!!
You’re right.
I’d rather look back on 3 weeks of suffering than look up at the top of my coffin!!
Possibly, for patients with existing/underlying heart issues.
Some of those folks may not be candidates for the HCQ/Zpak protocol.
I just copied them into excel until this thing is over so I can grab them easily!! :)
Thanks :)
Ya see, this is why asking a LOT of people is the best way to get an answer!
i wonder if there are enough that it would make it profitable to test and produce.
I’m sure they crunched the numbers already
And either way will pay off some federal agency or another to get it into use :)
1000 bucks a month. WOW
I had to change stomach and GERD medications because the first one was 300 out of pocket a month!!
The new one is 42.
This 25yo man with no prior health conditions is receiving this drug now and reportedly doing much better:
