Jon Jones, the UFC light heavyweight champion who is widely regarded as the greatest mixed martial arts fighter of all-time, was arrested in Albuquerque, New Mexico, early Thursday according to a report by KOAT.com.
According to Albuquerque police records, Jones was stopped at 1:01 a.m. MDT on Central Ave SW. He was charged with aggravated DWI, negligent use of a firearm, no proof of insurance in the vehicle and possession of an open container.
MMA Fighting reported that Jones performed poorly on a field sobriety test and then tested at or above the legal limit. In New Mexico, the blood alcohol content limit is 0.08.
Officers responded to a report of gunshots. When they arrived, they found Jones in his car with the engine running. He reportedly denied knowledge of gunshots. The police report noted officers said Jones showed signs of intoxication, and admitted he had been driving earlier.

Doesn't explain his previous drunk driving incidents.
Maybe he'll actually get punished this time but I won't hold my breath.
This deserved it’s own thread.
This idiot belongs in 1830’s Tombstone, Arizona.
In these times he will achieve the Darwin Award.
Wow! With his history this is almost certainly a career ender.
Not unless he goes to prison.
I can’t imagine he’d be suspended for more than 2 years, likely less.
If the UFC doesn’t bring him back, which they probably would, Bellator or someone else will, as long as they think he’ll sell tickets/PPVs
If he’s out for a while though he could lose what’s left of his prime, if he hasn’t passed it already, his fights have gotten pretty boring as he clearly just tries to win on points lately.
Yeah I agree that his best days are behind him. JJs fights used to be must see events...but not so much anymore.
They got him recorded saying over and over that he has anxiety and memory loss and confusion and ADD. He breaks down a couple of times. Very courteous to the offices but there’s something wrong upstairs with this guy.
As someone with anxiety who has been handcuffed by police, I can say it it doesn’t help.
But I don’t think it’s supposed to :)
That was 25 years ago.
I’ve become more calm with age.
Cops showed up after neighbors called when I threw two frying pans full of chicken out the front door because a gal friend of mine didn’t have them ready by 2 p.m. like I wanted.
It’s funny I remember the time after all these years. 2 p.m. .
That’s abuse of a chicken. A misdemeanor :)
I hope the guy gets help.
I hope the guy gets help>
Me too.
I resemble your remark.
I saw his last fight. He got his butt kicked but he was savvy enough to wait for the later rounds when his inexperienced challenger ran out of gas and, as others have said, won on points. Pretty unimpressive performance for the greatest fighter of all time.
Hmmmmm...nothing good happens on Central Ave, at one a.m. in the Duke City.

We are conservatives. We’re not saints.
The difference is we realize our flaws and work on them and take responsibility for our actions and feel remorse.
And we turn to God for help.
Sometimes not fast enough but eventually.
sometimes I wonder if we got more sane through the years or it just aged out of us :-)

With me it was meditation in the lineage of Shambhala. It saved me.
Had a really horrible temper, a gift from my father.Would rather fight than eat. And it ruined my after college years.
dp, that’s a lie. That’s only 1/2 the story. She was late to the corner bakery to buy a dozen cannoli’s and they were out. She figured 2 big pans of chicken would suffice. I was walking by at 6am when your elderly neighbor Mrs. Falcone was cleaning your stoop. She told me all about it.
Wow. I am glad you found something to help it because that could have ended very very badly.
Sounds like it did some damage for some years but I am glad you beat it in the end or at least found a way to cope with it
:)
No cannoli! On the table!! on a Sunday!!
And mrs. Falcone has always had a big mouth. She put Mr Falcone in the grave 20 years earlier than he should have been :)
Well it ruined a professional career, but i pursued a separate path and my life became very interesting.I cope with it. its always at the ready to give me a hard time, LOL.
Why did you need TWO pans of chicken, ya fat bastid.

His brother Chandler, the NFL player, had his share of issues also. But I do believe the family are Christians.
Not always a guarantee of not having serious flaws. But it is a guarantee that those flaws are forgiven.
I agree. Since hes only charged with misdemeanors he wont go to prison, county jail for a few months at worst. And the UFC will have a fight waiting for him when he gets out. Its a shame what hes done to his legacy. Most who know him say on a personal level hes a good guy. Maybe 6 months is exactly what he needs to straighten him out.
I hope he does as well, before he kills someone. It was that very prospect that led to my own sobriety.
