President Donald Trump berated Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) on Friday, demanding the Republicans throw him out of the party for obstructing the massive coronavirus rescue package.
“WIN BACK HOUSE, but throw Massie out of Republican Party!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
…& costly. Workers & small businesses need money now in order to survive. Virus wasn’t their fault. It is “HELL” dealing with the Dems, had to give up some stupid things in order to get the “big picture” done. 90% GREAT! WIN BACK HOUSE, but throw Massie out of Republican Party!

The president described the famous Republican libertarian as a “third rate Grandstander” who was obstructing the bill.
“He just wants the publicity. He can’t stop it, only delay, which is both dangerous and costly,” Trump wrote.
Massie is expected to force a roll call vote in Congress on the $2 trillion emergency funding bill, requiring members of Congress to rush back to Washington instead of passing the bill unanimously by a voice vote.
If Massie demands a quorum, 216 members of Congress are needed to return to Washington to pass the bill.
The Kentucky congressman shared an image of text from the Constitution on Thursday, suggesting that he would demand a quorum.
It appears that Massie believes that members of Congress should be required to record a vote on one of the biggest spending bills in the history of the country.
But Trump described him as a “disaster for America” for holding up the vote.

My ass there was no alternative! You lock the door of the house and tell them theres a clean bill or you stay there....and you hope that no one in the house has the virus. Would pass a clean bill the second someone coughed! 2 trillion dollars to destroy the economy, put illegals on welfare, prop up the Kennedy performing arts and PBS, and they give themselves a raise for doing nothing but raping the taxpayer Tell me gator, how many in Texas are going to be helped by this? Massie was 100% right. This was a bullshit bill!

So do I. And so would most everybody on here if it was a Democrat President that lashed out at Massie.
They are in session. They aren't home. This did not put lives at risk - but they could have voted in hazmat suits.

I’m a Trump supporter, and always have been. But when Trump is wrong, we need to say so.
He was very wrong.

It’s possible, state and local governments will collapse shortly after those that fund them are shut down. Unlike the federal government, they can’t print money and float debt.
Never in the history of civilization has the world’s pre-eminent economy been shut down overnight. If that happens, literally EVERYTHING fails. There’s no road map. There’s absolutely nothing that keep society intact in this situation. This isn’t a Black Swan (economy shut down) it’s a Plutonium Swan. And you can’t just restart when most of your population still thinks they, and their families, could die from it.
People have to realize, we are on untread ground here. This, literally, has never happened before.
Massie stands against the perpetual delusion that something must be done.

I agree with the rest of your post; but have been arguing this is what McConnell should have done with the Senate where the R's have leverage.
If McConnell was not working in concert with Trump on this point, I think the fact McConnell on his own did not require a clean bill speaks volumes. It will be interesting to watch the Trump-McConnell relationship.

Dear Mr. President,
Massie was only looking down the road and seeing the precedents we are setting. He is a constitutionalist in the mist of people who want to shred it. All he wanted was a true vote- nothing wrong with it considering the monstrosity we just passed.
Sir, with all respect, I think you are tired and stressed and I cannot blame you considering what you have endured but please aim your ire at Pelosi and those who added ridiculous amounts of pork while holding the people hostage. You are better than this.

Yeah, and he has ZERO power to do it...and even if he did, the entire country would collapse into open warfare. Yeah, he’s brilliant.
Something must be done, because you can’t simply shut down the world’s economic engine overnight and have civilization survive. You may not agree it was necessary to do that (shutdown), on my own I’d say it probably wasn’t, but by far most of the population is freaked out and thinks the grim reaper is coming.
Until that belief is changed by something, you have no chance of keeping the country intact.

My take, for what it’s worth...
I love Trump because he’s one of the few guys in D.C. who knows the enemy, he’s a brawler, he acts without trepidation, and he usually gets it right. We’ve been needing that kind of fighter for a long time. But I’m sure he’s going to throw a wild punch every once in a while.
