Donald Trump: Throw Thomas Massie out of Republican Party
Breitbart ^ | 27 Mar 2020 | CHARLIE SPIERING

Posted on 03/27/2020 7:25:45 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

President Donald Trump berated Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) on Friday, demanding the Republicans throw him out of the party for obstructing the massive coronavirus rescue package.

“WIN BACK HOUSE, but throw Massie out of Republican Party!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

…& costly. Workers & small businesses need money now in order to survive. Virus wasn’t their fault. It is “HELL” dealing with the Dems, had to give up some stupid things in order to get the “big picture” done. 90% GREAT! WIN BACK HOUSE, but throw Massie out of Republican Party!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 27, 2020

The president described the famous Republican libertarian as a “third rate Grandstander” who was obstructing the bill.

“He just wants the publicity. He can’t stop it, only delay, which is both dangerous and costly,” Trump wrote.

Massie is expected to force a roll call vote in Congress on the $2 trillion emergency funding bill, requiring members of Congress to rush back to Washington instead of passing the bill unanimously by a voice vote.

If Massie demands a quorum, 216 members of Congress are needed to return to Washington to pass the bill.

The Kentucky congressman shared an image of text from the Constitution on Thursday, suggesting that he would demand a quorum.

It appears that Massie believes that members of Congress should be required to record a vote on one of the biggest spending bills in the history of the country.

But Trump described him as a “disaster for America” for holding up the vote.

That die was cast in 2018 and the people gave the Democrats the power to get their cut

Why did the people give the Democrats that power? Was it because the Republicans who controlled the house for the first two years of the Trump administration failed to act as conservatives? Was it because the Senate failed to repeal Obama care? Was it because Trump was indifferent to deficit spending? Was it because the administration itself, especially in the person of Atty. Gen. Sessions, abdicated it's role thus permitting the Muller investigation to so smear the president that the election of 2018 was lost? If we are reluctant to lay all the blame on poor Atty. Gen. sessions, perhaps we should ask where was the Republican Senate, where was the Republican house, where were the hearings? Perhaps it was because Republicans slept walked toward defeat in 2018.

If any of these facts are compelling, perhaps we should see Representative Massie as a voice crying in the wilderness for the Republicans to repent.

I’m part of Trumps Base & I could care less ..Yes, Massie is technically correct but why become the poster boy for delaying a bill passed 96-0 by the Senate that Trump wants? Is your Ego that big ?.. Massie took all the heat off Pelosi for her delay...Just a bonehead move by a patriot at the worst time..Time to Move on..

The House has proven the Constitution is no impediment to our form of government.

U.S. Constitution
Article I
Section 5. Each House shall be the judge of the elections, returns and qualifications of its own members, and a majority of each shall constitute a quorum to do business; but a smaller number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the attendance of absent members, in such manner, and under such penalties as each House may provide.

This is why they panicked when Rep Thomas Massey threatened to call for a quorum.

“This stimulus should go straight to the people rather than being funneled through banks and corporations like this bill is doing. 2 trillion divided by 150 million workers is about $13,333.00 per person. That’s much more than the $1,200 per person check authorized by this bill.”

Massie took all the heat off Pelosi for her delay..

Because Trump chose to go after Massie, instead of the real culprit, Pelosi.

Of course Trump was wrong, but that is not the real conclusion to draw. The compelling conclusion is the Trump cynically threw Massie under the bus.

Trump is a genius at publicity and he knows what side of this debate he wants to be on and he knows there is no more demonstrable way to convince the nation as a whole of his command over this "war" on the virus.

He knows he has the base and he knows he will keep the base. We should hope that when Trump is reelected he will stay faithful to that base, more faithful than he is being in fighting the fight for fiscal sanity even as he fights the fight against the virus.

The truth is in that statement. Congress ran out of toilet paper so they reached for the Constitution.

““WIN BACK HOUSE, but throw Massie out of Republican Party!” Trump wrote on Twitter.”

Pretty stupid comment by Trump. He does sometimes get wrapped around the axle in petty squabbles.

If being present is not considered essential for a Congressional vote, we are in big trouble.

I support Massie on this. Trump I also support, but his comment was ill advised.

And what makes it even worse, Trump retweeted that disgusting tweet from Kerry.

Massie was right, and like I said on another thread, I usually agree with all of Trump's tweets, but Trump was 100% wrong to go after Massie like that, and to forward that idiotic tweet from Kerry. That was a disgraceful thing for Trump to do, and he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself for doing that.

And, like I pointed out on that other thread, it is true we are facing a dire emergency here, and something definitely had to be done in response, but, frankly, Trump just got his ass kicked by Pelosi, as did all the republicans who foolishly supported this legislative piece of crap.   Pelosi got every single thing she really wanted.   It's like saying that everyone here is extremely thirsty, so we made this wonderful punch to quench your thirst, but just disregard all those little Pelosi turds floating around in the punch bowl.

Another way of putting it, would be to say, "We know you are extremely thirsty, so we have this wonderful glass of water to quench your overpowering thirst.   Now, 90% of the contents of this glass consists of cool, refreshing water, and only 10% of it is a teeming mass of coronavirus germs, straight from the repulsive, infected mouth of Nasty Nancy Pelosi".

What a despicable, disgraceful thing to do, and Trump should at least apologize to Massie (and the rest of us), and walk those ill-advised words back (though this bill is unchangeably signed into law now).

Not going to win back the House by going after conservatives, that’s how they lost the House.
