This is the most elitist, close minded article I've read about a liberal journalist trying to figure out why Trump's approval rating is high right now.

It's pretty ridiculous, so I thought I'd share.

Maybe most of what has been written about the president and his party in the mainstream media is true — and yet it won't mean that this produces "the end of the Trump presidency" at all. Maybe enough Americans in enough states just don't care.

Or... maybe most of the American public simply doesn't trust or believe the media anymore. You are irrelevant when it comes to reporting on anything remotely related to politics. And since EVERYTHING the media reports connects to politics, even the weather is suspect if reported in the media.

I remember Damon Linker’s type of ‘logic’... from a long time ago.

It was the standard used by racists in the Jim Crow South when they were making their cases against ‘Negros’... Same circular logic... same blind hatred. Same accepted without proof superiority.

Linker needs to rewrite his article and substitute ‘black’ or ‘gay’ for all his references to Trump supporters...he might be able to see what he is...

Easily one of the most disgusting things I’ve read in years. Damon Linker is the type of person who could put conservatives in death camps and ovens... or lynch them on back roads.

I was born in ‘68 so i only saw them on VHS and then DVD and now digital :)

I finally saw it in the theater in NYC in 1998.

And at a drive in night on staten island 3 years ago.

Counting all the logical flaws that this guy employs is fun.

First he is an elite and an intellectual (at least in his own mind). Its like he is in the “it” sorority on campus. This guy with his writing degree from Ithica College has placed himself with smartest and most accomplished. That is the liberal mind in a nut shell. They are in the “in” crowd. And demeaning dissenters is their right and obligation.

Notice as well, that there are no facts. He sights nothing. He has decided his ideas are so pure that they do not need support at all.

One of the problems the world faces, according to his rant, is that we as Americans will lose face and be looked down on by the rest of the world. That’s it. This guy can’t bare that France or China would look down on him. Odd that he wants America to lead the world. But America depends so much on the popularity of lessor states. Clearly this guy does not understand leadership.

And its truly odd how he says liberal leaning journalists, intellectuals, and academics. Like they just lean left. They in fact, fall over the left cliff. A group of people who all know their Doric from their Ionic capitals, or at least they knew them once before that art history test they took, believe that art history has separated them from those who understand science. Or who understand why the constitution is stupid. And why the climate will fall apart if one more cow farts.

The fact is that these people don’t understand what happened to them. They did not notice that the value of their content is calculated in little more than inches while their headlines serves as click bait. The academics have not figured out that the internet gives away for free, more knowledge than they could ever teach.

And intellectuals are a rare bread, always promoting revolution. They are so shocked when kneeling before a wall, after the government falls, and the strongman they put into power puts a bullet in their head. Somehow they never learn the lesson of Mao, Hitler or Stalin. They never get past Marx (an intellectual), Lennon (an intellectual) or the bones of intellectuals who litter the fields of China.

There must be a book somewhere with a title close to this, “strongman’s guide to power in four easy steps” Step one: tell intellectuals how smart they are. Step two: Let them teach the children how dump their rights are. Step three: promote the revolution. Step four: kill the intellectuals.

Funny how “Darkness at Noon” is no longer taught. It should be titled, “The Inevitable End to Intellectualism”.
