That's a good one.
I gave my son a name that is not very common: Emerson.
One day when he was in middle school he asked me why I named him that.
I was in a hurry, and brushed the question off by saying: "Just be glad I didn't name you Sue."
Several years later, He is in the Navy and calls me up, late at night:
"Dad, I just heard the song. Now I get it!"
I had no idea what he was talking about.
"I'm listening to it now. I never heard before, Now I know what you meant."
Poor kid had remembered that quick comment all those years! Fortunately he was cracking up about t.

I watched Elvis on The Ed Sullivan Show many times... right in front of the TV... enjoying his singing and enjoying Elvis. Later, my boyfriend (hubby to be), stationed in the Army in Texas, thought he’d score some points when he heard Elvis was going to have a show at the base and since I so loved Elvis then, (hubby to be) said he’d attend that show for me. Later he wrote in his daily letter, saying he would not “go across the street to see Elvis again”. I guess Elvis was a lady’s man and not a soldier’s man.

Irving Berlin served in World War I at Yaphank on Long Island where he wrote a musical for Army talent called "Yip, Yip, Yaphank." He put it in a drawer for 20 years until Kate Smith asked if he had something special for her. He pulled out one song from the old show, fixed up the melody and lyrics and let her make it a hit in 1938.
Kate Smith: "God Bless America"
Irving put together a second show called "This is the Army" in 1942 with some material from the old show and some new material. He cast himself in his old doughboy uniform for one number and stopped the Broadway premiere with nearly ten minutes of applause. This is from the movie.
Irving Berlin: "Oh How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning"

Only “life preserving businesses” have been open since last weekend.
Restaurants and bars have been take-out/delivery-only since March 16.
Pennsylvania State Liquor stores have been closed since 8 PM March 17 but there is talk about a “soft reopening”.
“Shelter in place” for 10 of the 67 counties...those in the hot zone and it sounds as though this may have influenced the POTUS to look at that as a national model.

Fine. Working a bit less hours at some different places than normal.
I’m working on building a Kotatsu, but some of my suppliers are closed or hard to get ahold of.

Another good story! I loved Johnny Cash. My brother opened for Johnny Cash a couple of times. Said he was always polite backstage unlike some of the others he opened for.

Met Johnny and June in Nashville in 1978. Very nice people, but I will say Johnny had the look of a man with a burden on his soul. Probably the source of his creativity.
