HANOVER TOWNSHIP- A grocery store lost over $35,000 after a woman pulls a sick prank.
The manager said that a woman, who the police know to be a chronic problem in the community, came in to the store and purposely coughed on the store's fresh produce, and a small section of the bakery, meat case and grocery.
"While there is little doubt this woman was doing it as a very twisted prank, we will not take any chances with the health and well-being of our customers," said Fasula. "We had no choice but to throw out all the product she came in contact with."
Working closely with the Hanover Township health inspector, the store identified every area that she was in, they disposed of the product and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected everything.
Although they have not yet quantified the total loss, they estimate the value to be well over $35,000.
"We are checking to see if our insurance company will cover it, but even if they do, our rates will surely go up next year," said Fasula. "I am also absolutely sick to my stomach about the loss of food. While it is always a shame when food is wasted, in these times when so many people are worried about the security of our food supply, it is even more disturbing."
Store employees did the best they could to get the woman out of the store as fast as possible.
The police were contacted immediately and the case has been escalated to the District Attorney’s Office.
They have said that they will be aggressively pursuing numerous charges.
They don't think the woman is infected but they will make sure that she is tested.
What a loathsome and pathetic creature this woman is. :-(
Just being who she is is punishment enough...but separate this ‘person’ from polite society for the safety of all.

The problem is that "Lock em up." is not really a punishment for most of these people -- they are homeless wandering drifters and it costs the rest of us $50-$100k to keep them locked up for a year.
I think we need to institute judicial caning as a punishment. Painful as hell, it flays the skin from their buttocks, and they have permanent scars.
They get caned, go to a medical ward for a few weeks (no pain relievers) and go back on the street.
It doesn't cost anywhere near what a year of incarceration does, and they are much more likely to remember and learn.

Charge the woman for the produce. Take skanky butt to court. Make her liable. It’s called a civil suit you ignorant grocery store manager
We should do what mommy should have done, viz. beat them till they can't sit down. "Caning" seems appropriate.
Actually I think with what’s at stake, I think they’ll throw the book at her.
You assume the woman has any kind of income; she sounds like she’s a “non compos mentis” member of the local homeless population.

I have thought for some time that caning might be a good punishment for certain crimes. It’s one punishment that will be remembered long after it is rendered & a great inducement to prevent repetition of that crime. I think we might already have some instances where it could be used. Just think of it as a more serious type of spanking.
