A makeshift morgue has been set up outside a Manhattan hospital in a bid to handle any possible surge in coronavirus victims as the New York City death roll rose to 192.
Armed military personnel, NYPD and NYC Medical Examiner's Office employees were spotted outside Manhattan's Bellevue Hospital on Wednesday as crew members erected huge white tents as part of the makeshift facility.
In addition to the dome-like tents, multiple refrigeration trucks were also lined up at the site in Midtown along 30th Street and the FDR Drive parkway.
The coronavirus death toll in New York City has risen to 192 and there are now 17,000 confirmed cases, accounting for more than half the cases in the hardest-hit state in the nation.
More than 2,800 people in the city are hospitalized because of the virus - double the figure from three days earlier - and more than 600 are being treated in intensive care.

I was horrified by Nevada banning the drug Trump was discussing. The strength that he’s shown by encouraging immediate research and innovation is what allows them to stick their finger up at him and attack the drug he discusses, because he’s encouraged people to come forward with many others that they’ll silently use.

They have that many people shot to death each month. With stolen guns. I might add that No NRA members are involved in these shootings.

Well, “double the figure from three days earlier” being the operative phrase here — I’d say it’s sensible planning, unfortunately.

The city’s health department last week advised health professionals to continue working after exposure — rather than self-quarantining — unless they show symptoms.
Trump can, via EO and thru the CDC and FDA over-ride any state bannings if he wished...he could take entire control of all hospital facilities under his national emergency powers. I’ll bet they are double daring him to do that!
folks in NY will go to hospital as a death sentence when there’s no good reason to do so since drugs are available that will in almost all cases work from what we’re seeing- Folks will be lying in beds, gasping for breath, panicking from air starvation, for days, while they slowly drown in their own fluids- and all NY will do is set up temp morgues to deal with the deaths-
Meanwhile, states surrounding NY will approve the off label use of the drug for malaria, and save almost everyone- no makeshift morgues needed-
