The first time most of us learned that President Donald Trump was thinking about relaxing existing measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic was on Sunday night, just before midnight. That's when his tweet shouted in all caps, "WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF."
He went on to say he would make a decision at the end of the current 15-day period of CDC guidelines recommending social distancing.
The idea to change course may have come from his favorite network, Fox News, where a Sunday morning host suggested that when it comes to fighting the coronavirus, "The cure is worse than the disease." The question for the rest of us is, can we trust Trump to make a decision of this magnitude?
(snip)
To be fair, it's understandable that the President is concerned. The stakes are enormous, not just for him personally and politically -- this is after all an election year -- but for everyone in the country. Trump, rightly, is deeply concerned about what's happening to the economy. He's not alone. Soaring unemployment, higher than during the Great Depression, and a crushing economic contraction, could occur as a result of efforts to stop or at least slow the spread of a pandemic that threatens to kill millions.
It took a long time for Trump to acknowledge that Covid-19 is a major threat. ...
(snip) This is a cause and effect situation. To save the economy we need to stop the virus. Trump already tried to stop it by denying it was a problem.
The new plan he is considering could prove just as ineffective and just as deadly. The decision on how to move forward should be left in the hands of the experts.

Trump can first gather information and get advice from experts and then make the decision. As a businessman and capitalist, he has been making those kinds of decisions his whole adult life.

“It is time to ban CNN from FreeRepublic!”
Totally disagree, it’s a tenant of war to know your enemy.
How are we to suppress your powers of observation?
A Trifecta! :)
It’s a gift! :)
Ditto that.
I say NO!
Maybe Chris Coumo should make that call. Or Don LeMon.
The whole thing is a LIE legitimized by a network.
I hate this sort of crap.
CNN can no longer be trusted to report the news!
Trump has been saying in 15days he would reassess the situation since he started the conferences . The media apparently hasnt heard what he said every day or refuse to. The media is determined they will not permit the country to go back to work.
The American people are not going to put up with a long STAY AT HOME policy regardless of the potential risk.
I predicted a few days ago that the policy would only last from two to four weeks and then be lifted.
President Trump’s optimism is for psychological reasons. He is preparing American’s to go back to their normal life knowing progress has been made in the treatment of the virus.
The Democrats (and their allies in the media) want to destroy President Trump so they want as much chaos as possible and they want to keep America locked up for as long as possible.
So the talking points are out there.
Fortunately President Trump does not pay attention to the Democrat talking points.
Our borders will remain closed for awhile (the most effective defense we have currently) but people will be allowed to go back to work and stores and entertainment centers will reopen.
I don’t think we need the bloated stimulation package and hope the President veto it.
Let’s have the States release from quarantine one-by-one.
See who volunteers to go first.
i think trump won’t wait 15 days, and he will tell the american people not to wait for congress.
HAHAHA!!! Trump’s “EXPERT” that he MUST listen to! Dr. Fauci. Listen to his JANUARY 26, 2020 interview CNN!!! https://soundcloud.com/john-catsimatidis/dr-anthony-fauci-1-26-20?fbclid=IwAR2CH7hx71OydPybP4FETJG50Lq8nJMenRC5hAVhbXJWnte6kc6NExjH0do
