The first time most of us learned that President Donald Trump was thinking about relaxing existing measures to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic was on Sunday night, just before midnight. That's when his tweet shouted in all caps, "WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF."
He went on to say he would make a decision at the end of the current 15-day period of CDC guidelines recommending social distancing.
The idea to change course may have come from his favorite network, Fox News, where a Sunday morning host suggested that when it comes to fighting the coronavirus, "The cure is worse than the disease." The question for the rest of us is, can we trust Trump to make a decision of this magnitude?
(snip)
To be fair, it's understandable that the President is concerned. The stakes are enormous, not just for him personally and politically -- this is after all an election year -- but for everyone in the country. Trump, rightly, is deeply concerned about what's happening to the economy. He's not alone. Soaring unemployment, higher than during the Great Depression, and a crushing economic contraction, could occur as a result of efforts to stop or at least slow the spread of a pandemic that threatens to kill millions.
It took a long time for Trump to acknowledge that Covid-19 is a major threat. ...
(snip) This is a cause and effect situation. To save the economy we need to stop the virus. Trump already tried to stop it by denying it was a problem.
The new plan he is considering could prove just as ineffective and just as deadly. The decision on how to move forward should be left in the hands of the experts.

THIS DECISION Frida Ghitis so worried about is the new treatment regime that has been currently tested in coronavirus hardest hit area, for example, New York, with cooperation by their governor Cuomo.
And I will bet my $20, if Trump had said he won't allow relaxing the restriction to the new drug, this know-nothing gal would produce another column that says exactly the same thing "Trump can't be trusted" etc. etc.
I looked at her pic in google.
WHY are they always so ugly and look like lesbians??
I don’t recall electing the “experts” to lead this country ....
“The question for the rest of us is, can we trust Trump to make a decision of this magnitude? “
I’d say he’s the only one we can trust.
CNN was started by Ted Turner who wanted to reduce the world population by 95%. CNN can’t be trusted.
It has been tiresome to see these news/media guys and gals distort what we can plainly see and hear,
and Democrats play the politics-as-usual game.
I don’t know about you, but I am fair running out of any patience left.
Change Trump to CNN and I agree, they cannot be trusted.
About anything.
Dumb*sses all!
President Trump: "We must try hydroxychloroquine & azithromycin."
The Media: "That's false hope! It's not approved for use yet!"
New York Gov. Cuomo: "We must try hydroxychloroquine & azithromycin."
The Media: "This is real leadership! What a fantastic idea!"— Emerald Robinson ✝️ (@EmeraldRobinson) March 23, 2020
A fear virus has been injected into the citizens of the nation by SUPER SPREADERS. An electronic curtain has descended over the republic.
LARGEST PSYOPS in world history. Should be open season on rats and propagandists for the damage they have done, the anxiety, stress and destruction they have caused.
Their blood should be on their hands.
Americans trust the Red Chinese and the coronavirus
much more than the unaccountable liars,
seditionists and traitors at CNN.
MSM is terrified the economy will recover before November. At least half of the questions yesterday implied Trump would re-open the country to soon and Americans would suffer. As if these bastards actually cared about that. They want the economy crushed and to stay crushed, that is what they care about.
Of course, CNN and Communists everywhere want to kill the Trump economy and keep it dead so they can promise a recovery as they did during the 2008 election that got Obama into office. That gave us an 8-year recession. Lets hope someone remembers those dark days of broken Democrat promises.

This people are dangerous. Remember two facts. The virus has not gone away in China its still there in big numbers. And when people come out of their homes, they will get it. Same is true in Japan. The only valid strategy is slowing down the virus. There can’t be a winning strategy to stop it all together. Anyone thinking that will destroy the economy. Sitting in our homes delays the fact that we will catch it. If not today, then when things start to go back to normal. You can’t get rid of it here. But if you could, it would still exist in every country on earth. So, some needs to give the order to slowly get back to work. Maybe not now but soon.
It is time to ban CNN from FreeRepublic!
Because they are so ugly and are lesbians?
Frida Ghitis should be choking her life out on a hanging tree just about now...
“WHY are they always so ugly and look like lesbians?”
Perhaps because they ARE ugly and no man in his right mind will sleep with them which causes them have sex with other ugly women.
But, of course, this writer certainly can be trusted with the decision. Yes, yes.
Because they are, in fact, nearly always Lesbians.
