Easy way to save $4 trillion and huge personal suffering

Health care workers are widely complaining that they lack sufficient masks, which they need to protect them from being infected by Coronavirus patients. This is consistent with well established prudent health care practice.

So it's apparent that the task force lied to us when it advised that healthy people shouldn't wear a mask, based on the lie that a mask doesn't protect the wearer, but rather protects others from being infected by an infected person wearing the mask. This advice seemed very strange when news programs regularly showed most people in public in China wearing a mask. This lie apparently was promulgated in order to save the scarce available masks for health care workers.

So there appear to be two ways to minimize the spread of the Coronavirus. They are probably equally effective.

A. Current plan. Advise almost all Americans to socially distance, spend $4 trillion on relief programs, destroy the economy and the stock market, cause great financial and personal harm to almost all Americans.

B. Much better plan. Advise everyone over 60 and those with compromised immune systems to socially distance, as currently advised and practiced, and advise all other Americans to return to their usual prior routines, including work, except to wear a mask, to be issued by the federal government. Spend money on the masks and nothing else.

Because President Trump has been accused of being anti-science with regard to climate change and other issues, he unfortunately has let Tony Fauci have his way with the current plan. Tony Fauci is an excellent immunologist, but he unfortunately isn't trained to take into account economic realities when proposing action. On Sixty Minutes this evening, he credited President Trump with deferring to him every time he gives him scientific medical advice.

If you have a good connection with President Trump, the task force, and/or influential members of Congress, please forward this much better plan to them as soon as possible, so that we can avoid continuing along the current tragic path.

Thank you.

W left us enough masks. Obama used a bunch on HIS pandemic flub and failed to replace them. So government doesn’t’ have enough for mass masking. MSM won’t blame Obama so ignores this.

Masks most useful for those already infected to reduce their spread. Next most useful for those still uninfected but around lots of infection — healthcare workers and family members of patients. So while supply is limited triage it for them. At peak In Wuhan general masks might have helped a bit, virus density is too low iin most of US for that to do much.

sorry your reading comprehension is lacking.

This is what I said:

quote “*sigh* there are DIFFERENT kinds of masks

The ones you typically see at the hardware store WONT DO ANYTHING against a virus but make you “feel” safer.

The special masks they are talking about are the ones that are needed and are in short supply.”

notice the word typically referring to type of masks you typically see at the hardware store AKA “dust masks”.
Yes, they also sell the N95 masks, but I was trying to say that the government is NOT lying, and that there is no inconsistency. Only an N95 mask will help, those dust masks that make up the majority of the masks on the shelf at the hardware store, wont do squat.

‘Why our Government insists on crashing the economy when so few of us are really impacted just escapes me. This insanity needs to stop’

Because they want us to live in poverty so they can control us!
Because they think destroying the economy will remove pres Trump!

They are much more dangerous to our health than any virus!

Assume a very high quality mask-goggle set costs $20, and that 300 million sets are needed, for a total cost of $6 billion.

Add a generous $4 billion in order to expedite/ship and for overhead and profit, for a total of $10 billion.

To handle any contingencies, double that to $20 billion.

And you do realize N95 masks aren't generally reusable, right? Sure, you can beat them outside like your car's air filter, and spray them with sanitizer, but that's not really fully sanitary. And, even then, you should probably swap out masks every couple days. Goggles can likely be reused, so now you're looking at spending an additional $2B or so every week, and that's assuming there's sufficient inventory in stock to even do this once, much less weekly.

I have a couple of “N95” masks from a painting job a while back; I see that designation as the kind they need.

They were obviously lying to us here in NJ because the same masks they insisted wouldn’t protect us were appearing on the cops in the news.

There is no reason to trust anything the government says about this.

Many “hardware store masks” have “N95” stamped right on them.

Go read the PDF. Construction/hardware store N95 is not the same as surgical N95.

Ok; looks like they’re wearing the same things I have (3M N95s)

I know what you said. My reading comprehension is perfect. You belated out the same stupidity as the MSM who on one hand tell everyone masks don’t work while also stating buying masks from home 8mprovement stores keeps the out if the hands of healthcare workers.

1.) If the masks are worthless why do healthcare workers need the very same masks.

2.) Healthcare workers don’t run to Home Depot for masks.

I’m done with you. You’re to stupid to remember your original asinine statement. Go lick a doorknob.

If we shut down too long Consider: An increase of suicides due to each 1% increase in unemployment is estimated to be a low of 4,000 to 40,000. With a projected unemployment rate of 30% , the annual deaths from suicide may be as high as 1,200,000 and may exceed deaths from COVID-19.

Probably out of necessity. Thing is, your hardware store N95s aren’t proof against any sort of fluid or droplet. The medical ones are. Closest thing you can find to it in the general marketplace are P100s.

Thanks for the tip; at this point I’m working remotely and only going out very early to shop every so often. It really sucks that the 24-hour places have shut down overnight now, and the first hour is set aside for older people. I understand the sentiment, but I’ve got a wife and kids. Oh well; it could be worse; as a prepper I was (and still am) in good shape - didn’t have to stand in line for hours anywhere, and still have good toilet paper...
