Right before Christmas, Rev. Al Sharpton trashed conservative evangelicals who are backing President Trump. He said "they would take this shameless con man over the principles that they’re preaching. In the holy season as we celebrate Jesus, they would sell Jesus out if they felt they could get something from it."
So it was shocking when Al Sharpton opened his MSNBC show this evening by announcing that, in response to his "moral appeal" to the White House, President Trump, "to my surprise," had called him to discuss the compassionate treatment of the homeless and incarcerated in light of the coronavirus epidemic.

Nice. It has been a while since we had a President who cared about all Americans.
If true then it’s to my surprise, too.
This racist, leftist person should have no say in how government is run but I understand why President Trump is doing this. Entirely too many black people follow ‘this horrible leftist person who has a show on msnbc’ and President Trump wants to guarantee his reelection by getting a small number of black voters to switch in November.
President Trump really only needs about 2-5% more of the black vote to guarantee election. (Just random numbers thrown out there, folks...it is call guestimating.)

The President probably figured that slimy al would know where the soon to be stolen shipments of ventilators would be going, and was trying to get ahead of the problem.
There are decent people working in ministries for the homeless and prison inmates. Perhaps the administration could get in touch with some of them.

Not to me. What the Democrats fail to understand is that Trump would work with them if they gave him half a chance. He likes to make deals. But they can’t get past their hate. They have really squandered the last three years.
Obama did validate Sharpton, had him at the White House numerous times. Jesse Jackson not one visit, IIRC.
And Rand Paul met with him.
I lost a lot of respect for him at that moment.

I am confident the WH is in touch with such ministries and others much more than Sharpton. This is most likely a “divide and conquer” stratagem.
