Modeling has shown that more than 60,000 homeless people could become ill with the coronavirus in California over the next eight weeks, badly straining the healthcare system, the state governor said on Wednesday.

That’s one way to solve the homeless problem.
...and by ordering all residents indoors for the next month, the people in the streets can get sick and die out-of-sight and the cities will go and clean up the streets before everyone comes out from quarantine.
Open borders policies, too many regulations against housing, legalization of marijuana, a leftist, socialist, sexually confused mecca,... Not hard to see where all of that went wrong. Looks like a libertarian/anarchist magnet.
So.. Urban Campers are more likely to get the flu?
I’m not sure I buy Gavin’s prediction of the homeless being hit hard by this thing. It’s certainly a risk for homeless who sleep in shelters and use public restrooms. In San Francisco, though, this time of year the weather is pretty mild. A lot of the homeless spend most or all of their day outdoors and mostly keep to themselves, sleeping in doorways or park benches and not bothering to avail themselves of public toilets. This virus seems like more of an indoor thing, a plane/train thing, and a thing among people (like politicians and TSA workers) who are in close contact with large numbers of other people (100s or 1000s per day). a lot of the homeless are pretty tough SOBs. I’ve seen some of them living on the streets for years. A virus like this that produces minimal symptoms in so many people seems unlikely to take down the homeless. We’ll see.
Only if they live elbow-to-elbow.
Bring out your dead!
Uh, Sir, they're already out.
Paradoxically, the homeless probably have tough immune systems given their living conditions.
Which no one talks about...
You know Ive got friends of mine who live and die by the actuarial tables and I say Hey. Its all one big crapshoot anywho.
And now we know why San Francisco wants to quarantine the law abiding populace. They desperately want to protect the homeless, no matter how long it takes, and no matter how many million people need to be crushed by the state.
Wow, just waking up to this now?

Newsom is just waking up to this problem now because he thinks he can get federal funds out of the deal. Otherwise, hed still be fast asleep.
it certainly hasn’t spread in the population yet. It really does seem to be affecting the other end of the socio-economic spectrum. Trudeau’s wife has it, all those high ranking officials in Iran, now at least 2 congressmen, et al.
James Woods has being tweeting about this subject for awhile.
That’s true. One of the people hospitalized with it in L.A. is the CEO of Universal Music. He’s almost certainly someone, like Tom Hanks and Mrs Trudeau, who’s jetting around, going through a lot of airports, coming in contact with a lot of international people. Not to say that ordinary Joes aren’t being hit with this thing. They certainly are, but the high-end of the socioeconomic spectrum seems like it’s being hit disproportionately.
Right! I forgot all about Tom Hanks & spouse! You are right, of course, these people encounter a lot more strangers than the average person does. The travel, etc. is all a big part o that.
Most of the people getting this virus flew in planes and many of them in first class... Not a whole lot of bums fly first class... But who knows? Maybe panhandling wages have gone up.
This is a rich persons virus. Lots of people jet around the world on a regular basis... But most people don’t. And most of the people getting this virus are frequent flyers.
The homeless will be fine.
