An unidentified young woman in Newark, which is New Jersey’s largest city population-wise, and sits about 10.6 miles outside Manhattan, is posing a “public health risk” and remains “at large” in the community after testing positive for the coronavirus, the mayor said Tuesday.
In a video press conference, Mayor Ras Baraka, a Democrat, said the unidentified woman arrived at East Orange General Hospital on Saturday, underwent a COVID-19 test, provided a false name and address and left.
The test result later came back positive, and city health officials arrived to the address provided to notify her that she needed to come in for treatment. That’s when officials realized the woman at the hospital had lied about her identity and residence.
“This person is a public health risk to herself and the entire community,” Baraka said. “At this point, we still have no knowledge of who this individual is.”
The city is seeking a court order to get the hospital to release surveillance video to help police identify the woman. The Newark Police Department is working to get more information from hospital staff about the incident and the mystery woman.

Too much of the disease detection depends on personal integrity...not just with name & dob but with answering the boilerplate questions “have you travelled....do you have a fever....etc.”

Please direct your disdain to North Jeresey. That's basically NYC south and votes accordingly. South of Trenton we are not like that but we lack the numbers to affect policy in NJ.
It really irritates me that we pay the same exorbitant state and sales tax rates (high gas tax now too, thanks to that #$@& Chris Christie) as north jersey does but they get all the road improvements, services, etc and we get bupkis.
Newark is a “sanctuary city.” They may as well have reported that this incident occurred in Baghdad.
Let’s keep in mind that those most immediately exposed to this disease carrier are those who mingle with uninsured people who are prone to using fake names and addresses. I knew there had to be a bright side to this whole fiasco.

I’m here in Delaware. As you say, South Jersey does not rate the same as North Jersey, near NYC or NY state. Feel real bad for you.

Newark is apparently a proud sanctuary city. I suspect the hospital policy therefore did not allow them to ask for documents. If the woman has spread Flu Manchu throughout the city, well, I guess they know who to blame.
