Thanks for the mention.

Other than that one aspect, I can't honestly spot anything else that
changed. It didn't result in depression, mood swings, or abnormal
behavior.

The way I described it, you might think I become morose easily.
I wouldn't say that. I react to bad things in life pretty much as
I always have. When my parents were ill and passed away eighteen
months ago, I wasn't devastated by it. There as just normal sadness.

Tearing up is the extent of it, if I see something sad or particularly
moving.

I appreciate the suggestion.

But now there’s also evidence that shows we’ve been cooling off since the 19th century when 98.6 was established as “normal.”

Nope. 98.6F is 37C. The temperatures were originally measured in Celsius, rounded to the nearest degree, and then later converted to Fahrenheit with excessive precision.

The actual original thermometers used are even still around.

“Mine has almost been in the 97s.”

Me too, mostly. One recent checkup was 96 and change. Proof that some us really are Reptilians.

Two of you at 95 point something. So, quite a range of normal temperatures, even right here on this thread.

Just took my temp again. I might’ve been taking it wrong yesterday because now it’s suddenly higher.

Hope that’s due to hot flashes and not something else...

I think standard came from a German doctor who measured in Celsius. That’s why 98.6°F just happens to be a nice, round 37°C. The 37 was the original number.

That’s exactly the case. And the evidence suggests he rounded up to 37C.

It’s been coming down since the invention of mirrored aviator sunglasses.

Having the low body temperature is kind of a drag when you get sick because your fever is everyone else’s normal so doctors sometimes don’t believe you’re really ill.

My kids are like this too.

We have to go to the doctor multiple times to get simple sinus infections or bronchitis treated.

It gets very tiresome.

104 is typical internal/blood temp for parrots. Their outer naked skin temp should be around 95. Ideal temp for baby bird formula is 104 to 106 for small birds [cockatiels or smaller], 105-108 for larger older baby birds. You have to feed them warm food or you can easily cool their bodies too much since they eat a lot at once relative to their total weight. If the food in the crop is too cool the crop will slow and the food will begin to spoil in the bird before digestion, giving it a condition called “sour crop.” If the food is too hot the thin, see-through tissue of the crop can be burned and may even develop a hole.

My average is always in the low 97s, so by the time I’m at 99 I definitely feel bad and know something is up. By the way, the song by Keith worked its way into my dream last night before I saw this article. Great intro on the song, too.

It is claimed that when Farenheit calibrated his thermometer, he intended to set body temperature to read 100. He used himself to measure the temperature, and he evidently had fever that day.

In the 60s and 70s good BP was considered to be 120/80.

These days 120/80 is considered to be border line hypertensive.
