New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority has asked for a federal bailout of $4 billion because of the growing cost of the novel coronavirus.
MTA Chairman Patrick Foye, in a letter to New York’s congressional delegation Tuesday, said the authority estimates that it will lose $3.7 billion in fare revenues as ridership has plummeted since the start of outbreak early this month and is expected to stay at a low level for six months.

I have no doubt the MTA wants that money without 1 single job loss, pension reduction, or administrative salary cut.
Furlough everyone and cut your costs, MTA. Isn’t that how it works for most of the people riding the system?
The subway and bus service is dreadful in NYC. They should use this time to fix a bunch of stuff. All the MTA knows how to do is RAISE the fares and LOWER the quality of service. It utterly stinks. If you want to guarantee that you’ll be late to work or an appointment, by all means take the MTA.
Just lock the doors for 6 months and fire everyone.

A nationwide problem now. Gov Newsom of California is kissing up to President Trump big-time. Of course he wants a fed bailout. Same as all other governors. Begging DC for "lost" transportation costs. Screw them, public transport is already heavily subsidized so it was lost taxpayer money; now they want to toss more taxpayer money into a hole.
The subway with ground water running through it because of lousy maintenance, that the bums use as a latrine? What a scam.
