“Stealth” coronavirus cases are fueling the pandemic, with a staggering 86% of people infected walking around undetected, a new study says.
Six of every seven cases – 86% — were not reported in China before travel restrictions were implemented, driving the spread of the virus, according to a study Monday in the journal Science.
“It’s the undocumented infections which are driving the spread of the outbreak,” said co-author Jeffrey Shaman of Columbia University Mailman School, according to GeekWire.
Using computer modeling, researchers tracked infections before and after the Chinese city of Wuhan’s travel ban.

Actually, if this information is true, then it is far less a risk than the flu.

At last count we have 53 positives here in Michigan. If any were hospitalized per your question, local media would be all over it. Since they're not, it's safe to say none of them are seriously ill, if at all.
It is beginning to look like the seriously ill is an order of magnitude larger than the dead and the number of asymptomatic is another two orders of magnitude above that. So working back wards the seriously ill in the US right now may be 700 and the asymptomatic 70,000. A bit off. But subtract the cluster of 40 and count it as “one” 30 dead (roughly) and 300 seriously ill, 30,000 asymptomatic. Roughly, as of today. Within an order of magnitude, I think. Down the road, one million asymptomatic, 10,000 seriously ill, 1,000 dead. Doubling every 4 days we’ll be there in a month. This could be doable.
This would mean it’s quite benign.
Some interesting news.
“As of Sunday afternoon, the state had 335 verified cases of COVID-19, a 14 percent increase in a day, and six fatalities, after a new death was reported overnight in San Mateo County. Healthcare providers have conducted 8,316 tests.”
335 of 8316 tests means 96% of those tested don’t have it.
My caveat here is it’s unclear that all results of the 8316 test are included in the 335.
That’s why Dr. Fauchi has refused to give out blanket numbers. He said if he or anyone else dies, “they own that number,” rightly or wrongly.
I look at the live webcams from Wuhan, it doesn’t look like they are “back to business” to me.
